4 Newton’s First Law (Law of Inertia)
An object at rest tends to stay at rest and an object in motion tends to stay in motion unless acted upon by an unbalanced force.

6 If objects in motion tend to stay in motion, why don’t moving objects keep moving forever?
Things don’t keep moving forever because there’s almost always an unbalanced force acting upon them. A book sliding across a table slows down and stops because of friction. If you throw a ball upwards it will eventually slow down and fall because of the force of gravity.

7 Newton’s 1st Law MASS is the measure of the amount of matter in an object. It is measured in Kilograms. INERTIA is the tendency of a body to resist a change in motion or rest. More _______ means more ________ . mass inertia

9 Station 1: Egg-cellent What happened with the two eggs?
The raw egg starts spinning again because you only stopped the egg’s shell but its fluid content is still moving. Since the boiled egg is one solid mass, when you touch the shell the entire egg stops.

10 The coin wants to remain at rest because of the Law of Inertia.
If you flicked the card right, it slides out from between the glass and coin without enough friction to pull the coin with it. If your arm moves quickly enough, the coin will remain motionless for an instant. If you flicked the coins quick enough, the stack will remain motionless but the coin at the bottom will be pushed out.

As the car collides with the ramp, the car stops while the coin continues moving.
