Directional detection
See Asada’s talk on 29th Aug. Direction detect not only the recoil energy but also direction where DM comes from. Advantages Powerful back ground rejection Bkg : isotropic DM signal : come from the direction of the Cygnus DM wind the Solar system Anisotropy of DM velocity distribution measured with directional detection

(Ag, Br, C,…) SI cross section Gaseous Detector (CF4, CS2, CHF3) = SD cross section 5 of them use the gaseous detector, the target particle is CG4, that is suitable to observe the SD cross section. only one experiment is using the solid detector, and focusing on the SI cross section. velocity distribution
mass Clues velocity distribution abundance Dark Matter cross section density distribution In the directional DM search, it can be possible to make a constraint for the velocity distribution. Correct distribution is required to derive appropriate constraints for the interaction Anisotropy of DM velocity distribution measured with directional detection

Energy threshold is a factor to clearly characterize the difference between r=0 and 0.3. Anisotropy of DM velocity distribution measured with directional detection

Chi squared test for r (heavy target)
#exp.=6*10^4 Ethr=100keV (Ag) chi2 rtmp=0 chi2 rtmp=0.3 chi2 rtmp=1 90% C.L. r r If r=0.3, isotropic case (r=0) can be excluded at 90% C.L. Energy threshold is a factor to clearly characterize the difference between r=0 and 0.3. Due to form factor effect, more signal number is required in heavy target case than light target case. 22
Summary Possibility to discriminate the anisotropy in the velocity distribution of DM is discussed. With “template data”, the chi squared test is helpful to figure out anisotropy if O(10^4) data is obtained.
