Graduation Information, Instructions & Senior Dates

Prom Saturday, April 22 Reed Opera House
$30 per person, $25 with ASB Card Fines and fees must be paid before you can purchase a ticket and attend. You must present your ID and your ticket at the prom, so bring both with you.

Prom – Guest Pass Form Guest Pass Form – see Lorena Montero in the Main Office. Completed approved form due one week before prom, on April 14. You must show your completed and approved Guest Pass form to the bookkeeper before purchasing a ticket for a guest.

Senior Locker Decoration Saturday, May 20
Saturday, May 20th in the North Salem main hall from 12:00 – 2:00 p.m. Celebrate your graduating senior and make them feel special by decorating their locker! This is a yearly tradition for the senior class.

Senior Locker Decoration Saturday, May 20
Parents decorate their student’s locker with photos, cut-outs, paper and other decorations. These will remain on the lockers until Graduation. Check in at the North Salem main hall with your supplies. A parent rep will direct you to your student’s locker. Have fun, get creative and show your senior how proud you are of them!

Caps and Gowns Delivered Tuesday, May 30
Colors: males/red; females/black Jostens will be distributing pre-ordered caps and gowns during both lunches If for any reason you haven’t ordered your cap and gown yet, see Ms. Rivera in the Guidance Office to order one.

Senior Commencement Speakers
See Mr. Gilman in Room 213 to sign up and get guidelines for preparing a commencement speech. Tryouts are Thursday, May 18 in the Library Conference Room 2:30 – 4:00 p.m. You must be available to present on the designated tryout day.

Senior Banquet The Senior Banquet will be held at the Viticulture Center in West Salem on Thursday, June 1 at 5:00 p.m. Dress to impress: nice slacks and shirt for guys, nice sundresses for girls.

Senior Banquet Tickets can be purchased at the bookkeeper’s window for $15 each beginning Wednesday, May 17. Tickets will not be sold at the door.

Taking Care of Business Day Wednesday, June 7th
A list of seniors with fees is posted at the bookkeeper’s window on this day. Check the list for your Student ID# even if you don’t think you have any fines. Seniors must clear all bills.

Pay Your Fees & Fines Don’t wait till Taking Care of Business Day.
Seniors who have outstanding fees, fines, damaged or lost property may realize the loss of privilege to attend the Senior Banquet, Prom and Walking at Graduation.

Pay Your Fees & Fines Forms of payment: cash, personal check, credit/debit card (a convenience fee will be applied to credit/debit card payments) Students who have unpaid fees must pay them by 4:00pm on Thursday, June 8 in order to participate in the graduation ceremony. The next opportunity to pay fees and pick up diplomas is Monday, June 13.

Lockers Locker clean-out is Wednesday, June 7th (Taking Care of Business Day) Remove all decorations, stickers and garbage from your locker. All textbooks and library books must be returned to the library to avoid fines. All lost and found items to the Administration Office.

Yearbook – Cost $50 We will not be placing a special order if we run out. Order your yearbook and pay the bookkeeper in the Business Office.

2017 Scholarships and Awards Survey
Students will complete a scholarship and awards survey in English class. The survey will be ed to your Salem-Keizer address. Follow the instructions on the survey and provide the information requested: College/university name you will attend Name of scholarship received and the amount

Graduation Requirements
24 credits in designated areas Complete career related learning standards in CIS in English class Meet all Essential Skills requirements in Math, Reading, and Writing.

Reporting Earned Credits Outside of School
Credits earned in programs outside of school must be reported to the Registrar by Wednesday, May 31. (Work credits, Chemeketa credits, etc.)

Parade of Honor Students who attended Miller, Four Corners, and Mary Eyre Elementary Schools will participate in a parade of honor. Thursday, June 8th, at 9:00 am buses will pick students up and transport seniors to their perspective schools.

Parade of Honor Students will wear caps and gowns to this event and return to North at 10:30.

Senior Picture on the Front Steps Thursday, June 8
Have lunch before you report to the tennis courts for the Senior Picture. Wear your cap and gown and report to the tennis courts by 11:00 a.m. to line up for the Senior Picture. The Senior Picture will be taken on the front steps of the school at 11:30 a.m.

Senior Pictures The Senior Class Picture you take the day of the Assembly and the photo taken as you cross the stage at graduation will be available to order online at events.lifetouch.com ten (10) days after the commencement. A complimentary proof will be mailed to your home address.

Senior Pictures There is no obligation to purchase the pictures.
Prices will vary depending on the photo package you select. Allow 2-3 weeks for package delivery.

Senior Awards Assembly Thursday, June 8th
12:00 noon Seniors are taken to the auditorium and are seated and prepped for the assembly in the gym. 12:35 p.m. Seniors are taken outside in perspective lines and ready to enter the gym at 1:00 p.m. 1-2:20 all school Senior Assembly

Commencement Rehearsal Friday, June 9
You must be at Commencement Rehearsal in order to participate in the evening ceremonies. Commencement Rehearsal is at North Report to the Football Stadium. You must be there no later than 8:00 a.m.

No balloons or umbrellas will be allowed inside the stadium Guests may not bring their own chairs.

Seniors Report Time Seniors must report to the Main Gym for Commencement, no later than 6:00 p.m. Caps in your hands and gowns neatly draped over your arm. Dress appropriately!

Requesting Designated Seating & Parking
Designated seating and parking are provided for handicapped guests. Please call Christina Gray at extension before May 31 if you need special seating.

Spanish Interpretation
If you need Spanish interpretation contact Lorena Montero at Spanish speaking parents and guests can check out interpretation transmitters in Portable Building 8 upon arrival at the stadium. You must present ID to check one out.

Commencement Pictures
A professional photographer will be present to take a picture of each graduate as diplomas are received. An area will be designated where photos can be taken by family and friends.

Diplomas After the ceremony, students are to report to the outside concession stand to receive their diplomas. Only diploma covers will be given during the commencement ceremony. The next opportunity to pick up diplomas is Monday, June 12.

Commencement Parking Detailed parking instructions with a map will be mailed to the homes of seniors as we get closer to the commencement date.

All Night Grad Party At this time no sober grad party is planned for seniors. Seniors ask your parents if they would be willing to participate on or spearhead a committee to plan a sober grad party for the class of 2017. Sarah Cowan/Senior Class Advisor:

Participation in the Commencement Ceremony is a privilege not a requirement. Make good decisions, commencement privilege will be denied if you violate policy.
