2. CAUSE A cause is something that makes something else happen.
The house is on fire because someone left the oven on.
CAUSE: Someone left the oven on.
EFFECT: The house caught on fire.

3. EFFECT An effect is what happens because of
something else (the cause).
Since Susie had been playing soccer for 2 hours, she needed to stop and get a drink of water.
CAUSE: Susie had played soccer for 2 hours.
EFFECT: She needed a drink of water.

4. CAUSE & EFFECT because, if, when, so, then EXAMPLE:
There are many words that can help you find the
cause or effect in a sentence. These words are:
because, if, when, so, then
EXAMPLE:
It was getting hot, so the snowman melted.
CAUSE: It was getting hot.
EFFECT: The snowman melted.
