1 CRTNT testing equipments introduction

2 Testing box 2006,Tianjin ship repairing technology institute was entrusted to develop two CRTNT equipments by Institute of High Energy Physics of The Academy of Sciences of China. The testing equipments consist of Box, support base, hydraulic system & electrical system. For normal operation in Special environment in Tibet, original technical requirement as follows: 1 The Max. angle of elevation of the box is DEG. 61. 2 The Max. opening angle of the doors is DEG. 110. 3 The testing equipments need to be protected from bad weather. 4 Easy to dismounting, readjust, repairing. support base Lift actuator of hydraulic pressure

Testing box   The two original testing boxes are containers, so they have good sealed characteristic . So far, the equipments have good run for 5 years in YBJ Tibet. Ultraviolet filter Reflector PMT array The typical structure of Testing box

4 The end of 2009, Institute of High Energy Physics raised new improved project depending on the observational requirements to the original equipments and entrusted Tianjin ship repairing technology institute to design, manufacture, installing, commissioning etc… The new project must keep the original boxes and all attachments inside, must has Two-dimensional rotation, as the boxes may rotate form DEG. 0 to 90 at the vertical & from DEG. 0 to DEG. Plus or minus 270 at the horizontal, the speed of rotation can be adjusted, to ensure the rotational error less than DEG. 0.2, must has location control & program control. It is difficult to apply the function for the ordinary equipments except the astronomical telescope, but we do it by the simple way. We will point seven parts (base, structure, azimuth rotary device, zenith rotary device, braking, hydraulic and electrical system) to introduce the equipments as follows:

7 A、Base The base is made of reinforced concrete, has two parts: the middle support base & the round guide track. The middle support endures all weight of the equipments. The round guide track may keep the equipment from lean & be temporarily support for over loading.

8 B、Structure 1、Closed frame The testing box is fixed in the closed frame. The frame is connected with the testing box by the bolts. The frame is very strong, easy to install. The operation weight is 3 ton.

9 2、Side supports The side supports ensure the box to rotate reposefully at the zenith. The distortion of all the structures is less than 0.2 mm under the normal operation.

10 3、Rotary platform The testing box is set on the rotary platform; the platform is made of profiled bar. The structures is not destroyed in Class. 12 wind, & normal run in Class. 7 wind, the accuracy of observational data can be ensured.

11 C、Azimuth rotary device
The Rotary gear reducer & the Turntable Bearing are very important at the azimuth rotate. 1、Rotary gear reducer The crawl of Hydraulic pressure motor is very serious at low speed, so it shall be affect the test if we use the motor. Finally, we used the rotary gear reducer that its speed radio is 480 to be accord with our design request. Rotary gear reducer

13 2、Turntable bearing The turntable bearing is large & special bearing that it bears axes, radial & capsizal force at the same time. We used the internaltooth four-point contact bearing, it bears the weighty dynamic load very good. 转盘轴承

14 We can get some values from the graph:
Max. load: Fac = 446kN ;capsizal moment: Mc = kN·m ,so the bearing life : Lf = (fl)3·30000 = 113x3000 = 4x106(转) > 30000(转) as accord with the expression:fl = Fac/Fa’= Mc/M’= 446/43.3 = 277.5/25.2 = 11

15 D、zenith rotary device
The testing box is rotated by the rotary actuator at the zenith. The rotary actuator is composite actuator with gear-wheel & rack, it may modify the hydraulic energy to transmit mechanical energy. The reciprocating piston & rack drives gear to forward or backward turn to output torque & corner. Rotary actuator

16 E、Braking because the torque is very large at the zenith, the testing box is not kept at some angle for long time. We adopt hydraulic fall- safe braking. The brakes are extensive used to supply safety for all kinds of heavy industries. In the project, the braking can hold the testing box at any angle for long time. 904SH braker

17 F、Hydraulic system We optimized the hydraulic system at the project depending on the previous design experience. The hydraulic station used the overall steel plate structure and module design to easy operating and repairing. There are a heating rod and a level alarm in the oil box. There are electrical tracing and insulation on the valve, pipe, pump & actuator to suit to fieldwork. Hydraulic station

18 The speed exact control valves are used in the project to normal run while minimum flow & low pressure. The balanced valves are used to compensate pressure and flow to rotate placidly. The other function is a safeguard to protect the testing box from drop and protect the rotary gear reducer, turntable bearing & rotary actuator from destroying. balance valve

19 G、Electric There is a overload protection for motor in the electric system. The hydraulic station has thermostat, level alarm & protection. All action are controlled and checked by computer. Some zones are forbad to avoid lamplight fell by the limit switch. So it is easy to normal run when no man keep watch.

20 The azimuth angle & zenith angle are checked by 14 bit angle encoders to feed back PLC, then PLC can judge if the rotation stop. We don’t use exact gearing and high price driver, the rotary error can be less than DEG. 0.2 just by PLC program & adjusting speed. the cost is very low.
