April 3rd Deadline for C.O.S April 7th (computer lab entry) Computer labs open week April 12 & 13 (8 am & 4 pm)

3 Teacher Recommendations
Teacher recommendations will be highlighted to indicate recommended placement. Teachers use yearlong data to support recommendation. If you have questions about recommendations please contact the teacher.

4 GPA & High School Credit
2 years of a foreign language is required to graduate. Spanish I, Spanish II and Spanish III are offered at the middle school level Upon completion of the class with a 70 or above, 1 credit will be awarded for each class. Credit by Exam (CBE) is offered multiple times a year. GPA begins with the taking Spanish & Algebra I at the middle school level. Algebra I students will take the Algebra EOC as their state assessment. Certain 8th grade Technology course carry a high school credit.

5 Technology Incoming 7th & 8th grade technology electives:
College/Career Readiness (one semester) Computer Explorations (one semester) Arts AV Tech Com (one semester) Manufacturing (one semester) Arch & Construction (one semester) Applied Engineering (one semester) Incoming 8th grade technology electives *high school credit* Professional Communications (one semester ½ credit) Principles of Hospitality/Tourism (full year 1 credit) Principles of Human Services (full year 1 credit) Intro to Transportation (one semester ½ credit)

6 Physical Ed/Athletics
Students must have a total of 2 years (4 semesters) of Physical Education in middle school. Athletics and H.S. Fitness count toward the 2 years (4 semesters) H.S. Fitness is 1 semester for ½ credit towards 1 year P.E. HS credit. Physicals for Athletics will be available by the coaches after May 1st. Try outs are mandatory for Athletics. Sports played Boys: Football, Basketball, Track, Soccer Girls: Volleyball, Basketball, Track, Soccer

7 Fine Arts Band, Choir, Art & Theater Art
Auditions and tryouts will be held at the end of this year for Band and Choir. This includes band sections and choir placement. Outside participation is required for Band, Choir and Theater Art. There is a $25 fee for Choir and $20 for Art & $30 fee for Band All courses are full year-schedule changes are not recommended mid year. Prerequisites: Art 1  Art 2  Art 3 (or by teacher recommendation) Theater Art 1 Theater 2  Theater 3 (or by teacher recommendation)

8 Things to know Total terms equal 16 (including advisory)
Choose alternates!!! Reading is not a requirement If you are unsuccessful on STAAR Math you will be signed up for Math Lab If you are unsuccessful on STAAR Reading you will be signed up for Reading. Each of these count for a full year elective.
