Career Coaches help students develop an educational strategy that prepares them for the best job opportunities that build a foundation for future success and satisfaction. Raynell Siener Kim Aucoin Allison Vicknair
6
How do we accomplish this?
Empower students to make informed decisions about their career and educational plans and prepare them for success in postsecondary education and training. Expose students to accurate career information early in an effort to give them the best chance for success. Ensure all students leave high school with a viable career plan.
7
Specifically for Freshmen:
Coaches will integrate the use of the Ascension Kuder Navigator Program. Merge personal skills, abilities, and interests with appropriate career and college options Three assessments to help gain a better self-awareness Opportunities to explore careers that relate to their expressed interests and skills. Opportunities to research the education and/or training requirements for that particular career path The majority are scheduled in a career readiness course (NOT the same as JTC) While not required, career readiness is strongly recommended as a universal elective so that students can explore a variety of career fields

Jump Start Jump Start is the state’s program for school districts, colleges, and businesses to collaborate in providing career courses and workplace experiences to high school students, allowing them to continue their education after high school, certifying them for the career fields most likely to lead to high-wage jobs. While in high school, participating students will be provided more time in the school day and school year to achieve industry certificates or college credentials in addition to their high school diplomas. These credentials will qualify graduates to continue their studies after high school or to launch a career upon graduation. Jump Start info
12
What is a credential? A certification with varying levels specific to the student’s Jump Start pathway Valued by companies in high growth, high wage industries Helps students become employable after graduation
