Dysarthria Dysarthria is a motor speech disorder which is caused by damage to the nervous system This condition is characterized by poor coordination if speech muscles

2 Dysarthria Dysarthria is common among people who suffer from Multiple Sclerosis (MS). Dysarthria affects about 51% of people with MS and is the most common disorder of communication in those with this disease.

3 Conditions that may result in dysarthria include: Brain injury Stroke
Dysarthria is a motor speech disorder. It results from impaired movement of the muscles used for speech production. Conditions that may result in dysarthria include: Brain injury Stroke Cerebral palsy Parkinson’s disease

4 Symptoms of Dysarthria include:
"Slurred," "choppy," or "mumbled" speech Limited tongue, lip, and jaw movement Difficulty moving your tongue or facial muscles Uneven speech volume

5 Dysarthria can be diagnosed by:
Imaging tests such as CT scan, MRI scan. Brain biopsy to test for brain tumor Lumbar puncture to test for disorders of central nervous system

6 Dysarthria can be treated by behavioral and speech therapy.
A speech-language pathologist can access the kind of treatment to provide depending on the nature of the problem and tailor the therapy to the needs of individual patient.
