Dysarthria Dysarthria is common among people who suffer from Multiple Sclerosis (MS). Dysarthria affects about 51% of people with MS and is the most common disorder of communication in those with this disease.

Conditions that may result in dysarthria include: Brain injury Stroke
Dysarthria is a motor speech disorder. It results from impaired movement of the muscles used for speech production. Conditions that may result in dysarthria include: Brain injury Stroke Cerebral palsy Parkinson’s disease

Symptoms of Dysarthria include:
"Slurred," "choppy," or "mumbled" speech Limited tongue, lip, and jaw movement Difficulty moving your tongue or facial muscles Uneven speech volume

Dysarthria can be diagnosed by:
Imaging tests such as CT scan, MRI scan. Brain biopsy to test for brain tumor Lumbar puncture to test for disorders of central nervous system

Dysarthria can be treated by behavioral and speech therapy.
A speech-language pathologist can access the kind of treatment to provide depending on the nature of the problem and tailor the therapy to the needs of individual patient.
