1
The Life Bracelet Heart rate and rhythm sensor worn on the wrist with Bluetooth connection to smartphone. Real-time monitoring with intervention according to parameters either preset or learned. Able to call 911 for emergency assistance as well as location-tagged SMS notification of family or friends in an emergency. Can store and transmit health information such as medications and allergies to EMS and other services.
2
Initial Use Application on smartphone can be set by user or learning mode. User-adjustable parameters include low heart rate, high heart rate, asystole detection and notification options. Can be set to notify 911 either automatically or not depending on user preference.
3
Alert Algorithm If threshold is crossed or no heartbeat detected the user is notified by application (advanced Life Bracelet model could include vibration or tone alert as well). User will be informed of readings and asked to acknowledge alert. If acknowledged no distress message is sent automatically although prominent button offers 911 call and/or SMS notification.
5
Alert Algorithm If user does not respond to message the Life Bracelet can be set to either continue notification (for those who wish to avoid false alarm possibilities) or to initiate EMS response. 911 call placed by smartphone can potentially include voice with location. SMS messages will indicate last 5-10 seconds of heartbeat and GPS location.
6
Learning Mode User initially wears bracelet for hours so application learns typical heart rates at rest and activity. User informs the app before exercising so high threshold can be detected and before sleep for low threshold. Or user can forgo learning mode and simply set low and high thresholds.
7
Avoidance of False Alarms
When taking off Life Bracelet a sensor in band indicates this to app so no asystole warning is given. User can choose not to automatically call 911 and can choose no notification or location-tagged SMS only. User can choose “cushion” in learning mode for both low and high thresholds and can choose to be or not to be notified of low, high and no heartbeat.
