Round 1- set your timer for 1 minute. One person shares their notes/thoughts on the rhetorical prompt. Then rotate to next person. They get one minute Round 2-read through the essays. Group them according to Effective, Adequate, and Inadequate. Check with me. Round 3-Chart the essays and WHY each group receives the scoring they did. Include details WHY. Get into groups of 3-4

How would the meaning of the sentence change if it was ‘The wind blew all day and all night and all the next day. Get a textbook. Take notes on pages : what is parallel structure and it’s purpose? What are examples of it? What is anaphora and antithesis? Complete exercise #2-rewrite each sentence correctly Parallel structure minutes

6 Before you leave class today, complete the brainstorming for a second research topic. Include the research question. Turn in! Research

10 The Rhetorical Précis Format
a) In a single coherent sentence give the following:           -name of the author, title of the work, date in parenthesis;           -a rhetorically accurate verb (such as "assert," "argue," "deny," "refute," "prove," disprove," "explain," etc.);           -a that clause containing the major claim (thesis statement) of the work. b) In a single coherent sentence give an explanation of how the author develops and supports the major claim (thesis statement). c) In a single coherent sentence give a statement of the author's purpose, followed by an "in order" phrase. d) In a single coherent sentence give a description of the intended audience and/or the relationship the author establishes with the audience.
