Kreisau Circle
The Kreisau Circle was a group of German dissidents centred on Moltke’s estate in Kreisau, Silesia (Eastern Germany). Most of them were conservatives from the traditional German aristocracy and gentry. The circle included people from a wide variety of backgrounds. They included two Jesuit priests, two Lutheran pastors, conservatives, liberals, monarchists, landowners, former trade-union leaders and diplomats. They were united in their abhorrence of Nazism and their desire to conceive of a new, humane Germany after Hitler. Some members were descendents of Prussian generals. They had links to various resistant groups. They also gave information to the allies. They planned for what would happen to Germany once Hitler was removed, some wanted a monarchist Germany, some wanted a Germany based on small self-governing communities. The circle itself didn’t plan to overthrow the Nazi state, although members of the circle went on to hatch the Stauffenberg Plot. In 1944 Moltke was arrested and the circle fell apart..

3. Stauffenberg Bomb Plot
General von Stauffenberg and other plotters, many of whom had been in the Kreisau Circle decided to try to bomb Hitler in the Berghof in Southern Germany and then scheduled a flight to Berlin to take power. They planted a bomb in a suitcase which was placed next to Hitler. However , at the last minute an aid moved the suitcase. The bomb went off, 4 people were killed and Hitler escaped with cuts and bruises. The plotters took the flight to Berlin. They were arrested by the SS and publicly hung.
