50 Use of THAT: GO FLY MOVE DRIVE BRING PUT COME RUN WALK
The sign THAT can be used as a demonstrative to identify a noun. The location of THIS/THAT is the same as the location of the noun.  Another related is THAT-ONE which is usually followed by the pronoun showing the location of the referent: _______________q_______________ REMEMBER WOMAN I EXPLAIN, THAT-ONE SHE.  Verbs that incorporate location: Some verbs change their movement to indicate a change from one location to another.  GO FLY MOVE DRIVE BRING PUT COME RUN WALK

51 Practice: BEFORE I WALK-THERE. BEFORE I FLY-THERE.
FURNITURE HEAVY SHE MOVE-THERE. BEFORE YOU COME-HERE YOU. BEFORE YOU WALK-HERE YOU. BEFORE YOU FLY-HERE YOU.

CHICAGO, L-A HE THERE-FLY-THERE. STORE, YOUR HOME SHE THERE-DRIVE-THERE. STORE, YOUR HOME SHE THERE-WALK-THERE.

53 FINISH as a conjunction:
When used as a conjunction, FINISH is used like the English word, “then”. It is often used to link sentences showing a sequence of events. 1. CHICAGO HER MOVE-THERE, STAY 2-YEAR FINISH SHE THERE-MOVE-THERE WASHINGTON. 2. LETTER NOW I-GIVE-YOU FINISH TOMORROW YOU-GIVE-HIM. 3. I STAY-HERE 1-WEEK WITH SISTER FINISH I GO-THERE VISIT MOTHER. 4. BREAKFAST I COOK FINISH YOU WASH-DISH. 5. SUITCASE I PACK FINISH I GO-THERE AIRPORT. 6. ALL-DAY PERFORMANCE PRACTICE FINISH TONIGHT HAVE PARTY THERE MY HOME.

54 Let’s look at your worksheets…
Verbs Incorporating Location and Using Finish as a Conjunction: Some verbs change their _________________ to indicate a change from one __________________ to another. When used as a conjunction, FINISH means ‘_________________’. It is often used to link sentences occurring in a time sequence. Step 1. Practice sentences 1-20 on your own and underline any signs you do not know. Step 2. What signs do we need to review? Step 3. Now lets sign the sentences together. Step 4. Now lets sign them with partners. Move around the room. Sign a sentence to a person… the person responds with the number that corresponds to that sentence.

55 On Your Own… There are 44 signs in this chapter. Create 10 sentences on your own that incorporate at least 20 of the signs from this chapter and use grammar structures from this chapter. Gloss the sentence first underlining the vocabulary used from this chapter, on the next line write out the grammar structure used. Add all glossing marks and double space. For example: NEW-YORK I FLY FINISH FOOTBALL GAME GO SEE. (FINISH used as a conjunction.) You will be signing and translating these 10 sentences in class. Be sure to use only vocabulary we know—do not use to look up new signs. Rely on your master vocabulary list only! Make sure you know how to sign each sentence on the due date.

56 Gloss/Sign/Translate…
Gloss three to four sentence about a place to which you have either driven, flown, or walked. Use classifiers. When done sign and translate with the person sitting next to you, then across from you, then catty-corner to you. Practice.

57 More practice… Complete the following sentences using an appropriate facial expression. Sign to a partner. Translate your partners response under your glossing. CHRUCH (right), I GO-TO FINISH, I EAT FINISH, STORE (right), I DRIVE-TO FINISH,

58 Video Assessment! Choose two (2) sentence from each practice set… Record yourself signing these four sentences, upload to YouTube and the link to me. Your FIRST AND LAST NAME must be in the MEMO along with the chapter. Do it like this: Ben Baker ABC.1 While signing the sentences you SHOULD TALK and EXPLAIN what you are doing and WHY. See sample:

59 High Five! Time to review vocabulary. Find a partner and make sure you each have a different colored pencil or hi- lighter. Come up and get your paper… one per group.

60 Quiz Time… Read through the questions on your handout. You will see the video story signed three (3) times. Answer the questions. Do not share answers. This is an independent assessment.
