SCDAA is pleased to announce the 2017 Community Health Worker (CHW) Certification Training.
This certification involves: coursework online, 40 hours of field work, and at the conclusion students must pass a final exam.

Just about anything can cause a crisis? Especially the change in weather. It has been documented that more individuals with sickle cell disease have reported pain crisis during the colder months as opposed to the warmer months. This is because the cold weather constricts the blood vessels making it hard for the red blood cells to travel throughout the body. Doctors recommend dressing appropriately for the weather, staying hydrated, and limiting the amount of time in cold climates.

We are proud to honor Janet McEachern as our spotlight client of the month. She currently works as a certified nursing assistance providing home health care. Janet has two sons and one grandchild. She enjoys going to church, spending time with her family and traveling. Janet stays healthy by exercising, eating proper foods and staying positive. She leaves us with these words “2017 will be a great year, just keep your mind occupied with positive thoughts!”
