2 TUTANKAMUN TUTANKAMUN
Tutankamun was an Egyptian pharaoh. He was born Akhetaten which was the capital city of Egypt at the time. He was born in the year 1346 BC. He became the pharaoh of Egypt at the young age of nine. He married his sister (this was a traditional Egyptian thing to do) When tutankamun was 19 he died. No one knows how he died…..some think it was natural causes and some think that he was murdered…but nobody knows the truth… He was buried in a pyramid. His tomb was very small compared to other pharaohs . In 1922, a British named Howard Carter entered Tutankamun’s tomb. he discovered many artifacts. Tutankamun’s tomb told archaeologists and scientists a great deal about ancient Egyptian daily life. Many people all over the world became interested in learning more about ancient Egypt because of the exciting discovery of an ancient tomb full of treasure Tutankamun was an Egyptian pharaoh. Ancient Egyptian worshipped many gods, they were shown with animal heads to represent their magical powers. The ancient Egyptians worshiped over 2000 gods and goddesses. Unlike other ancient cultures, whose gods looked somewhat like people, most ancient Egyptian gods had animal heads.

THE PYRAMIDS OF GIZA: Of the seven wonders of the Ancient world,the Great Pyramid of Giza is the only one that remains.The Pyramid was built as a tomb for the 4th Dynasty King Khufu. Although the central burial chamber still holds the King’s sarcophagus, The pyramid was robbed and the King’s mummy has never been found Ancient Egyptians were buried with their belongings and the tomb walls were painted with scenes from the their personal life. We can learn about how the Egyptians lived by looking at the objects preserved in the pyramids. They are stored for Pharaoh afterlife. We can also learn many things about the Ancient Egyptians life from the hieroglyphs on the pyramids walls. By examining the artifacts in the pyramids and tombs, we are able to understand many things about the life in Ancient Egypt

5 hieroglyphics The Egyptian writing called hieroglyphics used pictures to represent different objects, actions, sound or ideas. There were more than 700 hieroglyphs. Some pictures stood for whole words. Hieroglyphs is made from two Greek words, hieros means holy, and glyphe means writing. Hieroglyphs were written on papyrus reed, which is a water or marsh plant, with tall straight hollow stems.The reeds were flattened, dried, and stuck together to make pages. The Egyptians also carved hieroglyphs onto stone and painted them on the walls of the tombs.

6 . mummies The egyptians spent about 70 days preserving a body. First the embalmers removed the brain through the nose with a special curved hook. Then they removed the rest of the internal organs, they wrapped the lungs liver stomach and intestines in linen and stored them in a container called a canopic jars , except for the heart. Ancient egyptians believed that the emotions and intelligence were stored in the heart. The dead would need their heart for a vital test to decide if they could pass on to the afterlife.

. HOW THEY LIVED Daily life in ancient Egypt revolved around the Nile and the fertile land along its banks. The yearly flooding of the Nile enriched the soil and brought good harvests and wealth to the land. The people of ancient Egypt built mudbrick homes in villages and in the country. They grew some of their own food and traded in the villages for the food and goods they could not produce. Most ancient Egyptians worked as field hands, farmers, craftsmen and scribes. A small group of people were nobles. Together, these different groups of people made up the population of ancient Egypt. HOW THEY LIVED .

8 . THE RIVER NILE THE RIVER NILE
The length of the river Nile is approximately 6650 kilometres (4132 miles). It is believed to be the longest river in the world. The Nile River has huge significance in regards to Ancient Egypt. Most of Ancient Egypt’s historical sites are located along the banks of the Nile River including cities such as Luxor and cairo Around 40 million people (half of Egypt’s population) live in the Nile Delta region. The Nile flows into the Mediterranean Sea. The name Nile comes from the Greek “neilos”, which means valley.
