3 The safety of children entrusted into our care is a top priority.
Safety & Security Space Camp is located within a completely enclosed facility. Security guards, on duty around the clock, routinely check all packages and parcels entering the facility, including those of the employees. More than 70 video cameras monitor the entire facility at all times. The safety of children entrusted into our care is a top priority.

4 Sleeping We will be housed in Habitat 1 or 2.
This location houses students in large barrack-style rooms with 30 – 60 beds per Habitat or 7 per room. Teachers will be with students. Students will be separated by gender at all times in the Habitats There will be a resident counselor on staff in our Habitat. Additionally, an officer is stationed in the Habitat area overnight. Students have set sleep and wake times that vary daily. There is no down time.

5 Safety & Security Your child will be under the supervision of one of the trained counselors and a rotation of Endeavor teachers during his/her entire visit. Camp supervisory staff and a separate security staff are on site or on call 24 hours a day, seven days a week to ensure the safety of your child. At no time are students allowed off-site.

6 Food Breakfast, lunch and dinner are provided in a common dining area starting the afternoon of arrival until graduation day. At each meal, there will be a variety of foods to appeal to different preferences. DO NOT send food to camp with your child unless it is to accommodate special dietary needs. This needs to be approved in advance.

7 Food Sample Meals Breakfast scrambled eggs, sausage, biscuits, toast, hash browns pancakes or waffles, fresh fruit, assorted cereals, milk and juice Lunch sandwiches, pizza, homemade soup, fruit, assorted desserts, choice of beverage Dinner meat main entrée, vegetarian entrée, selection of vegetables, pizza, sandwiches, salad bar, assorted ice cream, choice of beverage

8 Packing Toiletries Sleeping bag or twin size bed linens. Pillows are provided. Towels Camera Appropriate clothing for the weather. Jeans, T-shirts, LONG shorts etc. Light jacket or hoodie. Cash for souvenirs and breakfast/dinner on the road. Medication – Due along with forms to the office by 3/13/2016 CLOSED TOED SHOES ONLY. Sneakers please. Cell phones and other electronics are allowed packed in the child’s luggage. Cell phones are not allowed on the bus. A complete packing list is posted on the 6th grade teacher’s page on the school website and a hard copy will be issued to your child.

9 Medication Medication will be dispensed by Endeavor Staff following the same procedures used in the office during regular school days. Students must have completed, doctor signed forms for ALL medications, vitamins, medicated creams, and over the counter medications used on the trip. Endeavor staff members are not allowed to dispense any of these items to students without the proper paperwork accompanied by a doctors signature. The prescription label does not take the place of the signed forms. All medications AND completed forms must be turned in to the school by Monday, March 6th. Forms are available through the school website and hard copies will be supplied to your child in February.

10 Expectations Space Camp Asks:
Do not pack/send extra food. The sleeping facility is not equipped to store food. Travel at walking speed. No running indoors or out. SHOES AT ALL TIMES. Respect others by observing the quiet times of 10pm-7am. Stay in your assigned area. No boys in girls area and vice versa. WITH A CHAPERONE AT ALL TIMES!!!!

11 Expectations Endeavor Charter School:
DO NOTHING that would embarrass yourself, the school or your teachers. If it is not yours, then it should not be in your possession. Keep ALL arms, hands and legs to yourself!!!!! Your child will be sent home at your cost for reasons such as: violation of any of the established housing procedures, defacement or destruction of property, possession of stolen materials, blatant disrespect to any of the US Air and Space Center staff members, bus driver or Endeavor Staff Members and having or participating in any verbal or physical altercation WITH A CHAPERONE AT ALL TIMES!!!!

History and Nature of Science: Science as a Human Endeavor, History of Science Physical Science: Motions and Forces Science and Technology Understanding about Science and Technology North Carolina Essential: Describe space explorations and the understandings gained Analyze the spin-off benefits generated by space exploration technology

13 What will we do? This will be a memorable adventure in a safe and stimulating environment. The programs that your child will participate in promote the excitement of astronaut and pilot training as well as independence, teamwork, responsibility, and decision making. Students will be split into 4 groups. Each group will be assigned a space camp instructor and one of the teachers from Endeavor. Students will be divided into groups of students.

17 What will we do? Yes, the kids will do all of these things. The days will be jam packed with activities from sun up to sundown.

18 What if my child becomes ill or anxious while on the trip?
Space Camp has an on site triage nurse that will assist us if a medical need arises. If necessary, they can transport us to local medical facilities Students have access to Endeavor staff at all hours of the day or night. If your child needs emotional support or assistance for any reason we will be with them. If speaking with home is necessary, we are never far from a telephone.

19 Transportation is provided by Holiday Tours
When do we leave? Students should arrive at the school promptly at 10 PM on TUESDAY March 28th. Camp is over at 1pm on FRIDAY March 31st. We will leave as soon as we are dismissed from the graduation ceremony. The bus will travel the following route: 40 West to I-75 South then I-24 West Transportation is provided by Holiday Tours
