Title IX Title IX is a comprehensive federal law that prohibits discrimination on the basis of sex in any federally funded education program or activity. June 23, 1972, the President signed Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972

Is it really just about sports?
Title IX covers sexual violence. Whether that be in sports or some other activity at an institution. Rape, sexual assault, sexual battery, and sexual coercion. Title IX also covers sexual harassment.

Title IX-Sports Since the Title IX law was passed the sports aspect is what gets the most hype or public attention. In the sports part of Title IX you must provide an equal opportunity for both genders. This calls for equal spending in both men and women sports, equal equipment, and just overall equal amount of sports to increase opportunities both ways. (Does not need to be same sports but equal amount)

So what's wrong with Title IX?
The problem with today's world and the law of Title IX : Enforcement on Title IX issues Sports programs and athletes are getting cut from the athletic world. “Twenty-three years ago, there was 107 men's gymnastic teams in this nation,” says Lewis. Now there are 20 teams left. “Everyone in the world that knows anything about gymnastics knows that UCLA had a great program. And here it is, gone,” says McCain.
