4 Classroom Procedures Mrs. Roberts Geary High School

5 Coming into Class Be on time Enter the classroom quietly Put your phones away Grab a textbook, unless otherwise noted, or working on a project

6 Bring to class EVERY day…..
Pen, or pencil (ink should be black or blue) Paper

7 During Class Instruction
Listen Raise your hand to ask a question or to sharpen your pencil No side conversation during instruction; if you have a question, raise your hand, phones should be put away Participate

8 PROJECT Supplies Supplies are located on the tall bookshelf on the desk side of the room This includes; markers, colored pencils, pens, scissors, rulers, tissues, tape, and staples Extra pencils and pencil sharpers on located with the absent basket and turn in trays Do NOT break my supplies, if I find that it’s a problem, you will be required to bring your own, and mine will go away

9 Turning in Assignments
Assignments should be turned into the trays Blue is for JUNIOR high (1st, 2nd, and 7th hours) Red is for HIGH school (3rd, 5th, and 6th hours) Each tray is marked with the class period number

10 Finished with all your work??
You may work on homework from another class, or you may read a book If you are in FCCLA, I will only let you work on STAR events when all work has been completed for me

11 Homework Assignments Homework will be any assignment we, or you, do not finish during the allotted time in class Always put your FIRST NAME, LAST NAME, DATE, and CLASS HOUR on assignments

12 Leaving DURING class Lockers: NO trips to the locker, everything you need can be found in class, if needed. Restrooms: You will NOT be allowed in the restroom in the classroom, only in case of an emergency will I allow you to go back to the high school building to use the restroom Drink: NO food or drinks are allowed during class, some will be available on lab days only Office: Only allowed if called from the Office, for you NO one will be allowed to leave class for any reason the first OR last 10 minutes of class, all things should have been taken care of between classes.

13 Before Leaving Class You will be instructed to check for any mess that exists on the tables, chairs, and floor I will dismiss you, the bell will NOT dismiss you We will not leave until the room is clean, everyone is seated, and sitting quietly Push chair under table before exiting the classroom

14 If you are TARDY…. Come and get prepared for the day
Do NOT be an interruption or distraction to those who are already working

15 If you are ABSENT….. Work that was missed will be in the gray basket on the table with the turn in baskets BLUE file folders are for JUNIOR high classes (1st, 2nd, and 7th hours) RED file folders are for HIGH school classes (3rd, 5th and 6th hours) You will need to locate the day of the week you missed for any assignment you missed that day, they will reset every 4 weeks, or new month If you miss a full week, you will need to see me for those assignments If you miss a test, you will need to schedule a time to stay AFTER school It is YOUR responsibility to take care of YOUR missing work, I will NOT track you down!!

Always be RESPECTFUL, this is for adults and students alike What is said in the classroom, stays in the classroom Music, and phones, are NOT allowed Lab room is off limits, unless working on a lab Must follow safety rules to stay in a lab

17 Consequences….. Phones: Labs: V1st-Warning
2nd- Phone taken, then taken to office to receive at discretion on Mr. Rawls Labs: If severe enough, straight office referral (includes being unsafe with kitchen equipment)

18 Substitute Procedures
If I am absent from school, I expect full respect of the substitute teacher All rules and procedures should be followed If I receive your name for any negative reason, you will face the consequences Don’t try to tell a substitute that we do things a certain way, she has the rules, and if needed, her rules for that day apply The number one rule is to be RESPECTFUL, this does not change when I am not here

19 How will you be graded? Grading Policy A % B-80-89% C-70-79% D-60-69% F-59% or lower Grades can include: Worksheets Participation/Discussion Project Final Lab Cleaning

20 Parent Contact I will be contacting parents for both good AND bad
Students may be allowed to preview a letter or to clarify the accuracy of the content before it is sent out

21 Technology NO phones are allowed
Chrome books may occasionally be utilized, but will only be brought out at my discretion Occasional trips to the computer lab may happen, classroom and library rules apply

22 Lab Area Kitchen and Sewing area will be off limits unless we are working on a lab If you are missing work or have not received a 100% on your safety test you will NOT be allowed to participate in labs Not following lab rules, will get you removed from further participation

23 Emergency Drills Fire Drill- Long continuous bell
Students exit building Students stand in line for roll to be checked Disaster/Tornado- Short bells repeated Students go to designated area Must remain quiet and orderly Follow instructions “All clear” is a long bell
