4 Curriculum for Excellence
This is a simple guide showing how children may move through the levels of CfE. All children progress at their own pace and work is differentiated to support their learning.

5 House points and Good to be Green
Children receive house points for making positive choices and remaining on ‘green’ throughout the day. House points can also be earned through good manners, showing respect and helping others. All of the house points go towards winning a house treat each term and culminate in one house winning the house cup. Teachers may use other positive behaviour strategies within their own classrooms.

6 Linking Our Learning (LOL)
After a full consultation with pupils, parents and staff, we are ready to trial our new LOL format A LOL will always include differentiated Literacy, Numeracy and Health and Wellbeing tasks as well as two other topics chosen by the pupils with their class teacher The first LOL will be issued on Tuesday 19th September Pupils have 3 weeks to complete LOLs Pupils will share their LOL with their class and feedback will be recorded on the LOL See examples on desk

7 Literacy Spelling- active multisensory approach
Writing- a range of genres; looking at skills within writing. Children have the opportunity to peer and self assess as well as receiving feedback from the teacher. Reading- homework will be sent home in their diaries. Children will be working on reading skills as well as fluency. Resources include comprehension boxes, literature circles, non fiction skills.

8 Numeracy and Maths Range of resources to support numeracy including concrete materials and textbooks. Games and ICT are used frequently to reinforce learning Working on children’s ability to use strategies and discuss these within class. Aim to apply knowledge and understanding in everyday situations and problem solving.

9 Health and Wellbeing Building positive classroom ethos
Taking time to build a rapport with class Encourage restorative conversations when there has been conflict Bubble Time Circle Time PE- 2 hours per week Healthy lifestyle Celebrating achievements Mistakes are ok!

10 IDL- Interdisciplinary Learning
Vikings Penicuik Forces and energy Healthy Eating Novel Study P5 Titanic Novel Study “What’s for Tea?”/Food and Farming. Wars of Independence
