Mission Statement To promote health empowerment through education, hands on patient care, building networks to access health care resources and distributing donated materials to third world communities.

Establish a health education system Network to improve access to health care resources Distribute materials to communities abroad Offer educational experiences for nursing students Provide leadership opportunities for students

Mission “We are a community committed to preparing students to be educated and enlightened citizens who lead productive and meaningful lives” NSWB supports the Jmu mission because our goal is to provide educational opportunities for the students involved in our organization and we hope to provide opportunities for students to become more culturally competent and make a meaningful differences in underpriviledged communities around the world

Why we want to be an Organization at JMU
Devoted community of nursing students Experienced faculty advisors eager to help provide meaningful educational experiences and guidance Support Resources NS: who are willing and able to provide medical services and make a difference Faculty: has already shown a lot of interest in helping with fundraising and possibly traveling abroad We have the support of the nursing department and student activities department who can offer advice, networking and many resources to help us succeed

What Makes Us Special Only health focused organization whose purpose is to improve health care services abroad We offer educational experiences related to health, service, language and cultural competency

Needs We Serve Provide health care services to those without access
Donate supplies to communities in need Provide health education Health education to prevent disease and injury

Enhancing the JMU Community
Provide educational opportunities abroad for JMU students Expand the scope of experience for nursing students Educate the student body on international health needs Provide students with an opportunity to make a meaningful difference on a global level

Timeline Immediately: By end of semester: Spread the Word!
Schedule meetings Establish executive board By end of semester: Begin fundraising (T-shirt sales) Discuss possibilities of a service trip abroad We hope to organize a trip for this summer
