AM Monday: SEARCH/Guidance 8:15-8:45 Thursday: Library Every Week 10:00-10:30 PM Monday: SEARCH/Guidance 12:15-12:45 Thursday: Library Every Week 1:45-2:15

6 Curriculum Pathways to Literacy County wide and consistent through K-2
Charts and sight words 5 Components Read Aloud Independent Reading Shared Reading /Big Books, Poems Literacy Stations Writer’s Workshop

7 Curriculum Math Investigations Student Discovery Hands-on Topics
Patterns, shapes, counting, time, money, measurement, addition, subtraction, data collection, graphing, tallying Utilize Whole Group and math centers

8 Volunteering Room Parents 2. Help During Writer’s Workshop
(Multiple parents can share these duties) -Will be responsible for ……… planning and running parties Making class directory Helping with projects if needed 2. Help During Writer’s Workshop -Will help students stretch out words 3. Reading With Students -Will spend time reading one-on-one with students. ***I am not sure of my volunteer needs, yet. Information will be coming home later in the fall with possible volunteer opportunities.

10 Classroom Management Class Dragon Bite Jar
Rewards given to the entire class (wear PJ’s to school, extra recess, bring favorite toy to school, etc.) Behavior Dragons (individual) When students show “ROAR” behavior, I move their clip to visually show the class the good example the student is showing. Notes are sent home on Friday.

Vs. Come home every day! Include daily work and Dragon behavior notes. May be a note/reminder Empty all contents Return every day Come home on Thursdays Important papers from the school/county Monthly/Weekly newsletter/Important weekly reminders Please return on Friday

Enrichment Calendar Will be sent in Thursday folder and available online Not mandatory

13 What can you do at home? Give your children the opportunity to color, cut, paste, write, and read at home. Practice Sight words….play games Visit the Library!!!! Great websites to explore~

14 Star of the Week When it is your child’s turn to be the Star of the Week he/she will be asked to bring in a poster (I provide), which includes pictures (drawn or printed) to share with the class. Your child should be prepared to talk about and share their pictures! They may also bring in their favorite toy, or book to share with the class along with their estimation jar. Birthdays: Students may not bring in edible favors or party bags. (LCPS policy) We will sing to them and they wear a crown for the day. If sending in invitations for a birthday party, please send one for each classmate. Summer birthdays will be celebrated in June!

15 Book Orders I may be sending home scholastic book orders about once a month. Optional! Great way to get your child excited about reading.

While I rarely have a moment to check during the day, I will reply as soon as possible. If you have important information, especially a change in dismissal, please send a note in your child’s “Daily Work Folder” or call the school. 17 Field Trips In kindergarten, we do not plan on having a field trip. Our day is very short and there is very little time to get to the outing and then back to the school. We DO plan on having guest speakers! If you have any special talents or interests that align with our kindergarten SOLs, please contact me.
