Youth unemployment situation
Youth within 15 to 34 years age bracket constitute 40 percent of the labour force Youth unemployment rate is 12.8 percent, and increasing, Graduates along the various educational ladder. Medium to long-term national security concerns “oxygen is to a fire, so is unemployed youths to insurgencies”. Need for a paradigm shift in the approach create real businesses create sustainable employment.

Agriculture is the key Gov’t Created The Youth in Agriculture Programme Agriculture has the highest potential to employ the youth Mandate: create REAL businesses absorb the youth unique allocation of resources from various sources Various intervention projects crops, livestock, fisheries and agribusinesses.

OF BENECIARIES) AQUACULTURE LIVESTOCK/POULTRY AGRIBUSINESS 2009 47,000 - 2010 80,000 500 young women were trained in Value addition 2011 81,000 250 Youth were trained in aquaculture 670 young women were trained in Value addition 2012 45,000 300 Youth were trained in Aquaculture, 50 floating fish cages were constructed and distributed 100 parent stock of pigs were imported for multiplication and distribution 300 young women were trained in Value addition
