3 Student-Centred Learning
…represents both a mindset and a culture within a given higher education institution and is a learning approach which is broadly related to, and supported by, constructivist theories of learning. It is characterised by innovative methods of teaching which aim to promote learning in communication with teachers and other learners and which take students seriously as active participants in their own learning, fostering transferable skills such as problem-solving, critical thinking and reflective thinking. pascl.eu

6 Project Aim “PASCL aims to assist in implementing sound student-centred learning (SCL) strategies and approaches at institutional level and to foster a culture of SCL in higher education institutions across Europe.”

7 Project Goals Develop a peer assessment framework (PASCL guidelines) for “student-centerdness” explores if an institution has successfully incorporated the elements of student-centred learning in its teaching and learning strategy and delivery of its education Exploit the knowledge on SCL gathered in the project during a training for experts, three conferences and research study on SCL in Europe Give HEI insight into their performance regarding implementing student centred learning and provide with the means for further improvements Address the question of students’ motivation to take an active role in co-creating their learning experience and give deserved visibility to the teaching mission of HE institutions Facilitate peer learning
