3 CCMD SCHOLARS ELECTIVE GOALS:
Provides National Defense University (NDU) students (U.S. only) a unique opportunity to conduct focused research on a topic of strategic importance to a designated CCMD. The engagement between the Scholar, his/her faculty advisor, the NDU CCMD Program Coordinator, and the CCMD will strengthen outreach and research efforts as well as demonstrate the quality and relevance of NDU students to the CCMDs. Simultaneously supports the Joint Warfighter by providing rigorous, directed research on relevant topics while expanding on key elements of Joint Professional Military Education for selected U.S. military and interagency students. This program also develops leaders who have the ability to create, preserve, and disseminate knowledge intrinsic to advanced joint education and leader development. Provides select U.S. students the opportunity to further develop strategic-level leadership skills, insights, and perspectives as part of their JPME II learning outcomes.

4 CCMD SCHOLARS PROGRAM ELECTIVE
FACT SHEET (1 of 2) Eligibility: U.S. Students at NDU in Graduate-Degree producing programs. Must be interested in working with a CCMD. Only five CCMDs currently participate: PACOM, EUCOM, NORTHCOM, SOUTHCOM, and STRATCOM. PACOM (only): would like PACOM applicants to be assigned to the PACOM AOR after graduation; therefore, if accepted as a PACOM Scholar, PACOM will make a “by name request”. EUCOM (only): applicants must take at two electives on the EUCOM region or apply for the Eisenhower School “EUCOM Concentration” (North Campus only). Each CCMD has a list of topics for potential research, and will also consider student-generated topics. On 16 August, students must submit a form indicating a CCMD prioritization, a “tentative research topic”, and a research goal. On 8 September, students submit their formal research proposal through their respective colleges representatives. On 9 September, proposals are presented to the Deputy Provost.

5 CCMD SCHOLARS PROGRAM ELECTIVE
FACT SHEET (2 of 2) Contact the IPC/CCMD liaison for the CCMD (s) you are interested in to discuss topics, etc. Program will require additional research; will be an “overload” for some. Students should expect the following requirements: Research paper (50+ pages) Out briefing to a member of the CCMD or the CCMD actual Executive summary Students may apply to more than one CCMD (indicate priority on application form) Applicants who are not selected for this program must select from remaining “open” electives to fulfill elective requirements for their college (pending graduation requirements) The limit of participants varies by CCMD; however, CCMDs generally accept up to 6 students
