Ⅰ. Understanding of the teaching material
Knowledge objectives: *Students are required to master the ability of talking about their favorite subject and explain the reason. *Students are also required to learn how to ask someone else about their favorite things. Ability objectives: Speaking skill Practice skill Communicative competence (Students should be talk freely in English with partners) Moral objectives: Tell students not to be interested in only one or two subjects.

To help the students master the new words: description; word; because; teacher; Mrs.; partner; city Teaching difficult points To make the students master the target language: ◆ What’s your favorite subject? ◆ Why do you like math/science…etc.? ◆ Who is your science teacher? ◆ What’s your mother’s favorite color?

Step ⅰ. Greeting ,reviewing and lead-in (10 minutes)
First, greet the class as usual Second, have a dictation the words learnt in the last period: subject, science, P.E. , math, art, music, Chinese aim: to review the key words learnt in the last period Third, ask some students some questions like these: What’s your favorite subject (e.g. science)? Why do you like (science)? Who is your (science) teacher? aim: to review the key language points learnt in the last period and lead in the new target language.

Step ⅱ. Grammar focus (10 minutes)
Ask some questions using each possessive adjective. Show some exercises on the screen. (my, your, his and her) Aim: to review the use of the possessive adjectives 1. This is ___ friend. ( I ) 2. Is that ___ backpack? ( you ) 3. What’s ___ telephone number? ( she ) 4. ___ name is Tony. ( he ) 5. Is Guo Feng ___ brother? ( you ) 6. There is a computer on ___ desk. ( I )

Step ⅲ. Pair work (12 minutes)
Ask the students to complete the chart by asking their partners with the following questions: ① What’s your favorite subject (e.g. science) ? ② Why do you like (science) ? ③ Who is your (science) teacher? Favorite subject Reason Teacher You Your partner Ask several pairs of students to act out their conversations for the class.

Step ⅳ. Practice------ do a survey (10 minutes)
Ask the students to complete the chart with their parents’ favorite things. Then talk about their parents with classmates.

Stepⅴ. Summary and Homework (3 minutes)
★ Summary (2 minutes) repeat the new words and strengthen the target language ★ Homework: (1 minute) (1) Recite the new words (2) Do a survey about your good friend’s favorite things. (3) According to the survey, write a short article about your good friend.
