12 What is “Public television”?
"Public television" is a television system, which has its definition and task in the theory of dissemination. It must have its own channel, own radio station, and own program policy. All of the broadcast should serve the public and provide the essential information to the public as the main feature. Public television is different from national television that publicize government decrees, and from commercial TV that focuses on advertisements and ratings of viewership Belongs to all people, not only for service of the government or for a political party Non-profit organization Public television receives the nationalists commitment to serve the public welfare as the purpose.

Government donation(decreases ten percent by year if ratings goes down) Corporate Sponsorship Donation from Member of PTS(Friends of Public Television) A magazine as a bridge of PTS and members Feedback: discount of purchasing related products seminars and lectures from time to time Invite "Friends of Public Television" as a volunteer when host culture, education, disability and other public welfare activities, so that promote the concept of public television to life. Rents hardware to transmission companies, related departments of the University… Sells related products: programs related videos, books, teaching materials

16 Why PTS (公共電視)? PTS operating cost is covered by government, donations, and program sales. PTS provides funds and a broadcasting platform for independent filmmakers. PTS provides visiting tours for students.
