Wile E. Coyote as an Example?
Three things to learn from Wile E. Desire Source Attainment
3
Wile E. Coyote as an Example?
Desire If we can look at Wile E. as an example we must start with his desire; he wanted to eat and he saw the Road Runner as food.
4
Wile E. Coyote as an Example?
We should have a desire for spiritual things and with that desire have the zeal necessary to attain the desire. There are many passages in the Bible that speak to this type of zeal. Matt. 13:44-46 – in the parables the man found a treasure in a field and sold all to get the field and the man found the great pearl and sold all to get it
5
Wile E. Coyote as an Example?
Luke 18:1-8 – in the parable the widow was persistent in seeking justice John 6:67-69 – Peter answered for the twelve Rom. 10:1-3 – we must have zeal according to knowledge Acts 17:10-12 – the Bereans searched the word to confirm the things that were taught
6
Wile E. Coyote as an Example?
1 Cor. 15:58 – the Corinthians were admonished to be steadfast and immovable 2 Tim. 2:15 – Paul urged Timothy to be diligent Luke 10:25-28 – Jesus tells the lawyer that he answered correctly about inheriting eternally life
7
Wile E. Coyote as an Example?
So, like Wile E., we must be able to identify that which we are seeking and go after it with our whole being.
8
Wile E. Coyote as an Example?
2. Source When Wile E. failed to catch the Road Runner he had a source to go to for ideas and ways to catch his dinner, the ACME catalog.
9
Wile E. Coyote as an Example?
There are two reasons for the failure. One, the design was faulty and Two, the user failed to follow the directions. In one of the cartoons the asterisk for the contraption read that it was not effective on Road Runners.
10
Wile E. Coyote as an Example?
We have the word of God. We should use the word of God continually and remain steadfast in always turning to it. Matt. 4:1-11 – the devil tempted Jesus and with the temptation Jesus turned to God’s word to answer the trial
11
Wile E. Coyote as an Example?
2 Tim. 3:16-17 – the word of God equips us for all things Is. 30:21 – we will hear the word that guides us Jer. 10:23 – God will guide our steps
12
Wile E. Coyote as an Example?
The problem with the ACME catalog is that it was not perfect or it as not applicable for the task. The word of God is perfect.
13
Wile E. Coyote as an Example?
Psalm 12:6 – the words of the Lord are pure words Psalm 18:30 – His way is perfect, His word is proven Psalm 33:4 – the word of the Lord is right Psalm 119:130 – the words of God give light and understanding Rom. 1:16 – the Gospel is God’s power of salvation
14
Wile E. Coyote as an Example?
Like Wile E. we must have source material but we have the perfect source material that thoroughly equips us.
15
Wile E. Coyote as an Example?
3. Attainment The final thing to look at is that Wile E. never caught the Road Runner. He continued to try but he didn’t catch his dinner.
16
Wile E. Coyote as an Example?
When he finally caught the Roadrunner he looked directly at the camera and held up a sign. Wile E. had been chasing for so long he forgot why he was chasing.
17
Wile E. Coyote as an Example?
This one is a little harder to apply because a Christian will never attain to the promised reward in this life. Phil. 3:7-16 – we must continue to look to the reward 1 Tim. 6:11-14 – pursue and fight until Jesus returns
18
Wile E. Coyote as an Example?
1 Thess. 5:1-11 – it does not matter what day or season it is, we must always be ready and waiting for the day of our Lord’s return 2 Tim. 4:6-8 – there is laid up the crown for righteousness James 1:12; Rev. 2:10 – he will receive the crown of life
19
Wile E. Coyote as an Example?
Wile E. attained his goal one time but did not know what to do. When we attain our reward we will not have to wonder what we will do because we know that we will worship God eternally. Rev. 4:1-11
20
Wile E. Coyote as an Example?
It is easy to see where a cartoon character fails. But we can make a spiritual application to something as temporal Wile E. Coyote. 1. We must have a desire for spiritual things. 2. We must turn to God’s word and never give up. 3. We must know what we are striving for and when it will be attained.
