Learning Target: I can identify important features and characteristics of civilizations that led to their rise. The undisturbed tombs of the ancient Egyptians, discovered deep within the great pyramids, are like GIGANTIC, 5000 year old time capsules. When archeologists discovered them, they opened a window on the past. The tombs were filled with writing, wall paintings and treasures – as well as mummified bodies and containers of food and wine. From all of this evidence, archeologists have been able to see into Egypt’s incredible past!

WHY is it important to understand Egypt’s past?
Egypt was one of the longest lasting civilizations. The Egyptians left many artifacts that helped archeologists to understand their daily life and culture.
