Presentation on theme: "David tried to correct his problem of sin in his own way."— Presentation transcript:

1 David tried to correct his problem of sin in his own way.
All he did was dig himself into a deeper hole. Not until he sought the Lord’s will did he find success.

2 Be gracious to me, O God, according to Thy lovingkindness; according to the greatness of Thy compassion blot out my transgressions. Wash me thoroughly from my iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin. For I know my transgressions, and my sin is ever before me. Against Thee, Thee only, I have sinned, and done what is evil in Thy sight,… Psa 51:1-4a

3 Hide Thy face from my sins, and blot out all my iniquities.
Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me. Do not cast me away from Thy presence, and do not take Thy Holy Spirit from me. Restore to me the joy of Thy salvation, and sustain me with a willing spirit. Psa 51:9-12

4 We must follow the same pattern.
When he wrote this beautiful psalm, David shows us how a sinner may be restored to God. We must follow the same pattern.

5 Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you
Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you. Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double-minded. Lament and mourn and weep! Let your laughter be turned to mourning and your joy to gloom. Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and He will lift you up. Jas 4:7-10

6 Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted. Matt 5:3-4

8 If you’re struggling with some sin, or have never come to God, what would David tell you to do?
He would say read what he wrote in Psa 51, and do what he did… seek the Lord in repentance.
