OKM HCSA goes to Jyvaskala Finland.

3 Trip Purpose: Travelling to Jyvaskala Finland will provide a group of students at OKM a unique school trip with hockey as the common connection between OKM and Schildtin High School and two hockey loving nations. It is a dream of many Canadian Children who plays hockey to represent their country at the national level. This trip will give these students the opportunity to do so. Although these students will not be a part of a Hockey Canada National team program, they are students in the OKM Hockey Canada Skills Academy who will practice and play hockey with Finnish students their own age.

4 Purpose Continued: The Finnish School system is one of the most innovative when it comes to student learning. OKM students on this exchange will be given the opportunity to learn in the Finnish school environment. Along with the hockey the OKM students will experience the life of a Finnish school student. OKM students will be billeted with a Finnish family for five days and attend classes at Schildtin Upper High School and participate on ice training with students from the high school.

Friday, Dec 9 Saturday, Dec 10 Sunday, Dec 1 Last day in Jyvaskala 12:00 noon Leave for Helsinki    4:00 pm Check into hotel 7:00 pm Watch KHL Game Helsinki.   A day of Touring and Shopping in Helsinki. Possible guided tour of historic Helsinki. Partake in city activities Shop the Malls and shops of Helsinki. Early to bed for an early flight the next morning. 5:00 am Depart hotel for Helsinki Airport. 6:55 am Depart for Franfurt 8:45 am arrive at Frankfurt Airport 10:20 am Depart for Vancouver 11:35 am Arrive in Vancouver 1:15 pm Depart for Kelowna 2:14 pm Arrive back home !

Flights, Transfers, Hotels, Insurance, Chaperones and applicable taxes (based on 20 Students) $ Supervisory costs $3300 ($165 per student) Pro Hockey tickets $50 Commemorative trip Jersey and Socks Track suit $75 Cost per Student (based on 20 Students) $2500 approx. 12 Payment Requirements:
1st payment - $ due June 24, 2016 to be paid online School Cash online. Along 2nd payment - $ due Sept 23, Final payment – $ due October 21, 2016.

13 Travel Documents: It is the responsibility of all participants to be in possession of the correct documentation to travel out of the country. Failure to do so will result in participants being denied entry/boarding and returned home at the expense of the individual. A valid passport (authorities at your destination require that passports are valid for 3 months beyond your return date. Notarized letters of consent for persons under 18 years of age. Non-Canadians must check entry and transit requirements.. Ellison Travel & Tours recommends passports are valid for 6 months beyond your return date. Non Canadians - Please notify the group leader at time of booking if you will be travelling with a passport from another country so we can check requirements and advise you accordingly.

15 Fundraising: There will be some fundraising activities for the trip.
