Empowering and engaging households, communities and businesses
Key actions: Establish three Community Power Hubs in regional Victoria to support local energy projects Introduced an improved feed-in tariff scheme to ensure a fair approach for all consumers Update Victorian Energy Compare to include renewable solutions Empowering and engaging households, communities and businesses Community Power hubs To support development of renewable energy projects by providing legal and technical expertise, as well as start-up funding (‘Landcare’ for renewable energy) Trial three sites – Ballarat, Bendigo and the Latrobe Valley Customers will receive a minimum feed in tariff of 11.3 cents/ kWh for the electricity they export to the grid – an increase on the current minimum rate of 5 cents/ kWh Upgrades continue to Victorian Energy Compare to ensure new services, such as solar and batteries are integrated

Strengthening our smart, safe and reliable energy system
Key actions: Deploying energy storage to integrate renewable energy generation ($25m) Investment in microgrid, smart grid and renewable energy storage demonstration projects ($15.8m) Establish the Centre for New Energy Technologies ($5.36m) Strengthening our smart, safe and reliable energy system As part of making energy storage mainstream, we are currently receiving proposals to install two 20MW batteries in the northern Victoria Last week the Minister announced to deliver: up to 10 microgrid, smartgrid and renewable energy storage demonstration projects across Vic – to deliver integrated and smart energy solutions and reduce reliance on the electricity network the Centre for New Energy Technologies or C4NET purpose of this centre is to bring together government, industry and universities to collaborate on energy solution.
