We are so pleased to have you with us this evening. We are going to be talking about Title I and what that means for Ware County High School, our students and our parents.

2. What is Title I?
Title I began in 1965 (ESEA) as a federal program to ensure equal opportunities for low income school districts.
Through Title I, the federal government disburses money to school districts based on the number of low-income families in each district as determined by census data.
The school uses its Title I money to supplement and improve educational programs offered to help ALL students meet state standards.
Title I -- Federal program begun in 1965 as part of the Elementary Secondary Education Act. You will see it referred to again as Elementary Secondary Education Act.

3. The Purpose of Title I…
….is to ensure that ALL students have a fair, equal, and significant opportunity to obtain a high-quality education and reach, at a minimum, proficiency on challenging State academic achievement standards and State academic assessments.
The purpose of Title I under the Elementary and Secondary Education Act of 1965 (ESEA) is to ensure that all children have a fair, equal, and significant opportunity to obtain a high-quality education and reach, at a minimum, proficiency on challenging state academic achievement standards and state academic assessments.
Title I provides funds to schools who have a significant number of low income students in a school.
Title I funds can only be used to improve academic achievement.

Students do better in school and feel better about themselves
Teachers understand the needs and concerns of students and parents
Parents understand their child and be more involved in their child’s education
Ware County High School is “School-Wide” Title I school

5. As Title I School-Wide , we…
Develop a School-Wide Plan
Conduct a needs assessment/parent survey on the types of programs we offer and use parent input to guide our decision making on ways to help students
We hold Parent workshops / presentations to train and inform parents about standards, assessments, etc…
Use Title I Money to provide ALL students with services to help them achieve academic success
We establish goals based on multiple pieces of data and determine how are we going to meet our goals through programs & interventions

6. School-wide Plan (SWP) School Improvement Plan (SIP)
Template change represents convergence of both former documents: The schoolwide/school improvement plan serves as a blueprint for how WCHS will design an instructional program that supports challenging learning environments that meet the needs of all students.

7. 10 Components of the SWP Comprehensive Needs Assessment
The SWP is developed by a group of stakeholders (administrators, teachers, parents and students ) who look at various forms of data to determine goals and needs as a school. The SWP outlines 10 Components that we, at WCHS, must address in our plan.

9. How we receive Title I funds?
All schools in Ware County participate in the Community Eligibility Provision (CEP)
This programs allows us to provide “no-cost” breakfast and lunch to all students
It eliminates the burden of collecting household applications to determine eligibility for school meal programs
Everyone benefits
Students—access to free nutritious meals for all students
Parents—no household applications means less paperwork and no worries about lunch accounts
Schools—streamlines meal service operation

19. College and Career Ready Performance Index (CCRPI)
Georgia uses the College and Career Ready Performance Index (CCRPI) for state accountability purposes.
The CCRPI is like a REPORT CARD for schools.
CCRPI has multiple indicators to determine a school’s performance, rather than using a single test score given at one point in time.

Points are awarded for EOC courses that show areas of student growth.
Achievement Gap
Points are awarded for “closing the gap” from one year’s achievement to the next.
The goal of measuring achievement gap reduction is to focus on increasing the achievement of the schools’ lowest achieving students (25%)

30. WCHS School Designation:
Ware County High School has not been given a school designation this year, which means we are a Title I school that is continuing to provide a quality education to all of our students. Our school status is directly attributed to the hard work of our students and staff.
Our teachers and staff members work very hard to meet the needs of all students to ensure they achieve at their highest potential. This recognition shows that students are learning and making good progress.
We are proud to tell you that WCHS has 100% Highly Qualified teachers and paraprofessionals.

Additionally, Ware County High School was identified as…
a 2015 AP STEM School (schools with students testing in at least two AP math courses and two AP science courses)
a 2015 AP STEM Achievement School (schools with students testing in at least 2AP math courses, 2AP science courses and at least 40% of the exam scores on AP math and AP science earning a score of three or higher)
WCHS received the 2015 Georgia Family-Friendly Partnership School Award for representing the best in customer service and parent engagement.

The District Parent Involvement Plan outlines how the school district will put into operation programs, activities and procedures for the involvement of parents in all of its schools with Title I, Part A programs, consistent with section 1118 of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act of 1965 (ESEA).
District plan includes the parts that would be found in the school level plan. The purpose of the plan to say how we are going to help our parents to help their child be successful.

The School~Family Compact is the signed agreement between all parties—parent/student/school stating how each party will help students be successful in school.

39. 1% Set Aside funds for Parent Involvement
1% of our Title I money is set aside for parent engagement.
Parent Feedback is obtained through surveys.
WCHS 1% Set Aside money was used this school year to purchase agenda’s for students. These agenda’s store a vast amount of information for students serve as a communication tool between parents and teachers.

40. Parent Right To Know Information Title I, Part A and Title II, Part A
Parents have the right. . .
To request information about the professional qualifications of your student’s teacher(s)
To know whether the teacher has met the Georgia Professional Standards Commission requirement for certification for the grade level and subject area in which the teacher provides instruction
To know whether the teacher is teaching under an emergency or other provisional status through which Georgia qualifications or certification criteria have been waived
To know the college major and any graduate certification or degree held by the teacher
To know whether the student is provided services by paraprofessionals, and if so, their qualification
To be notified via standard mail when their child has been taught for 20 or more consecutive days by a teacher that is not highly qualified

41. Fraud, Waste, Abuse and Corruption Procedure
In compliance with White House Executive Order and Ware Board Policy DIE, the Ware County School System provides all employees, clients, vendors, and individuals with confidential channels to report suspicious activities. The Ware County School System shall not tolerate fraud, waste, abuse or corruption of any kind and has an established system for the reporting and investigating of suspicious activities.
