History & information
It’s the regions oldest and largest art museum.
Founded by citizen-naturalists in 1874.
Is an active research center institution and is the oldest scientific institution in Southern California.
Includes a collection of European old masters, 1800’s-1900’s American art, an encyclopedic Asian collection, and a growing collection of contemporary Latin American art.
They occasionally have exhibits from around the world, such as the 100 year anniversary of the Titanic.

3. Special events
The museum is holding two special events throughout Hispanic Heritage month.
One is called “Spanish Sojourns: Robert Henri and the Spirit of Spain” and the other is called “Out of Egypt” that celebrates the return of the museum’s collection of Ramesses II artworks.

8. reflection
This was an interesting experience to go through. I learned about all of the interesting things that the San Diego Museum of Art is doing and what kinds of artworks it contains. I even learned some interesting things about both artists. Like how Henri was born in America but had Latin heritage and was an influential artist, and how Ramesses II is argued to be the greatest Egyptian pharaoh. I will be sure to visit the museum and check out the exhibits on both Robert Henri and the return of all of the artworks on Ramesses II. I feel that they will both be entertaining, informative, and fun. I will have to make sure to visit the museum before the end of this awesome opportunity.
