Upgrading last year’s scenario Shipping Company (exporter/importer)- brainstorming session on Tues, meeting on Wed. Injects: Looking to balance very challenging reverse engineering/forensics related injects of 2016 with easier risk mitigation related injects of 2015. Looking to upgrade equipment, provided specs, contacted CDWG and Dell Identify VOIP expert Working to make up loss of most of ACE grant, $6K still available TTC helping to secure ONR grant Need help on 7 & 10 April for setup & takedown

5 PCDC 2017 Status Secretary of the Air Force, Deborah Lee James has tentatively accepted invitation to speak on Pro Day Already sent tentative job offer for returning senior competitor Have Sponsorship, Collegiate, Pro Day and High School focused brochures on website Vetting – Background check and trusted recommendation Sunday Collegiate Day- All eight teams (Clemson, USC, CofC, CSU, Citadel, TTC, SCSU and ECPI) have reported that they want to compete again, recruitment info included. Currently only one additional school has confirmed interest –Lander University in Greenwood Morris College visited last year, but doesn’t have curriculum and POC is gone? Invites to gage interest from other schools went out to Coastal Carolina, Winthrop, Furman, Claflin, and Wofford. Response due back no later than 10 Jan. SE Regional CCDC Remote Qualifier would be used to qualify. Registration due to SECCDC by 31 Jan, event 18 and 25 Feb On-site SECCDC at Kennesaw State, GA is 5/6 April? Proposal to allow a high school student be imbedded on Collegiate Teams

6 2017 Palmetto Cyber Defense Competition
The Space and Naval Warfare Systems Center (SSC) Atlantic, the Navy’s East Coast Engineering Center, in collaboration with the South Carolina Lowcountry Chapter of the Armed Forces Communications Electronics Association (AFCEA) facilitates a cyber defense competition each spring. The goal is to energize high schools, colleges, and their students to focus on the development of technical skills in the area of networking and cyber security. Pro Day teams use the event for workforce development/training, recruitment and the challenge of competing in the cyber arena High Schools – Saturday, 8 April Universities/Colleges – Sunday, 9 April Pro Teams – Monday, 10 April 1st place: Medals and a trophy All teams receive: Challenge coins, lunch, beverages and snacks Access to collected resumes of competing students The Pro Day competition is held between a combination of industry and DoD teams. Each team may have up to six members and a team lead. Plus, two imbedded college students will be assigned. Q&A sessions will be provided for all Pro Day teams to help them prepare for the event. The current Secretary of the Air Force, Deborah Lee James is scheduled to speak on Pro Day. 10 2017 Cyber Forensic Challenge
Objective: Solve as many forensic scenarios as possible within the allotted time and accumulate the most points possible – Participants will be provided access to a forensic scenario exercises ranging in difficulty. Each exercise will require the participant to utilize different forensic techniques to uncover a designated “flag”. Flags will be unique to each scenario which can range from date/time stamps, hashes, passwords, etc. Sponsorship by Sentar for one 1st prize committed. Other prize still open? Any attendee at the PCDC event may compete New scoring engine being tested In discussions on how to get word out and potential limits on schools. Registration required?? 2017 will have two separate divisions: high school and collegiate/professional Planning on doubling the capacity of allowable participants for 2017 (50-60?) Excludes PCDC Staff, SPAWAR Employees and High School PCDC team members Individual participation only: Cannot receive help from others

13 Recruitment Up to four $3K recruitment bonuses will offered to select College students on Saturday if the accept job offers from SPAWAR Students may send soft copy of resume to Ken Dilks at for distribution to sponsors Students can also send their resumes and transcripts to for potential SPAWAR employment. Focusing mostly on Collegiate Seniors this year and Juniors for next year. SPAWAR is looking to offer tentative on-the-spot (within 2 days) job offers for select students at the competition. Students need to bring hard copy of resume and transcripts. Sign up and can you be notified of openings on USAJOBS: Colleges are permitted to be there on Saturday for recruiting high school students- afternoon is best time.
