CSS Security trends What is a ‘follow-home’/driveway robbery?
Victims are selected: Having expensive/flashy jewellery, large mounts of cash, or items like Rolex watches etc. Once the victim is identified the spotter will notify their team (2-4) that will follow the victim home Or at a location makes it easy to quickly corner the victim and point a Firearm at them. Suspects then take control of the victim and collect the item(s). This generally takes around 1min to complete only. Tips: Always be fully aware of your surroundings; who is driving in front and especially behind If you suspect of being followed, don’t go home…. Either drive around the block, drive to the closest SAPS station, call your CSS to meet you at your house and stay on the line. Try not to wear expensive jewellery when shopping as this will draw attention. Check your rear view mirror to ascertain if you are possibly being followed. Mental note of who is behind you. MX 40 AGM Sep 2016

CSS Security trends Burglary/ Theft at your premises: M.O. used:
Suspects identify any weaknesses in the perimeter security (fencing or gates) Wait till no one at home or later in the evenings Items Targeted: The most common items are bicycles that are taken Other items are small, portable items such as power tools Tips: Ensure you test your home alarm on a regular basis (panics, beams and electric fences etc) Activate external beams when at home and all alarms when going to bed Connect your electric fence to your alarm system- first measure/indication NB!! FALSE ALARMS – if you accidentally set off your alarm, please notify the control room immediately to prevent wasteful use of resources Domestic watch- started in March 2016 with the assistance of Mr Sean Bradley. Director’s Report-Security (Contributions)
The membership participation rate has declined at period end Circa 130 0f 200 households paying [105 debit orders and about irregulars] Contribution rate has decreased ; target is 75% and current is 64% (68% last yr) We continue to engage with the French school to up their contribution rate Your contribution is tax deductible - tax certificates are available for all paying members!! At current contribution levels we should make a marginal surplus with minor increase proposed The more participants we have: The greater the spend we have available for upgrading and maintaining security The lower the increases could be in the future We would prefer to have street reps to drive participation, but not working Utilising the services of CSS to drive participation- renewed effort Please see your neighbours who are contributing or not and assist us in this drive MX 40 AGM Sep 2016
