Southeastern Michigan and the City of Dearborn is the home to the largest concentrated Arab population outside the Middle East (380,000 people)
Many prefer to be referred to as American-Arab
Dearborn has been home to American-Arab populations for many years.
1900’s people from all over moved to Dearborn due to the Ford Rouge Plant.

4. Community Policing
Must build relationships on trust and communication.
Become educated about your community and show, through action, your legitimate concern ensuring each community member has equal voice and is respected for who they represent.
These actions result in trust.
Trust results in communication.
Communication allows police to be better at deterring crime, solving crime, and enlisting community support.

The cornerstone of the Dearborn Police Department’s philosophy is communication, education and mutual respect.
Everyone has an equal responsibility in contributing to a successful and safe community.

Chief Haddad stated in the press release, “I am solely responsible as Chief of Police for establishing the objectives and crime prevention strategies that the men and women of the Dearborn Police are tasked with to maintain the good order of the community. We will continue to carry out these tasks to ensure that Dearborn remains a safe and welcoming city for our residents and visitors alike.”
Use of canine units for crowd control was strictly prohibited.
