1. Here’s The Scoop! Hello Students!
I am so excited to meet you and to get to know you. I hope you’ve had a great summer and that you are eager to begin fifth grade! I know that you are going to think it is interesting and challenging. I think fifth grade is the best and I look forward to introducing you to new ideas and information at our amazing school.
Among other things, you will get to learn about our wonderful country, participate in the scientific method, expand your math skills, and read and write about exciting people and places. You will also become a fabulous writer; especially with opinion and informative writing (a skill that will come in very handy for the rest of your life). We are fortunate to have technology to enrich all of our learning and exploration! Isn’t that great?
Since reading is so important in fifth grade, I would like you to bring a book you’re reading the first day. If you are not reading a book right now, start thinking about one that you would enjoy and check it out of the library.
In addition to your book and backpack, there are several other items that would be very beneficial for you to bring on the first day.
Please do not bring a pencil box, pencil pouch, or any 3-ring binders. I have provided that for you.

School will start Wednesday August 24th with the first bell at 8:45 and the starting bell at 8:50. We will have a Back-to-School night the evening before school starts on August 23rd from 6:00-8:00 PM Where you can see your new classroom and introduce yourself to me. Enjoy your last days of summer vacation, but start looking forward to a great new school year full of learning and improving! Think about goals that you would like to reach and how you can reach them. I will be right beside you eager to help you reach those goals! I look forward to seeing you at Back-to-School night!
