2 What Degree Plans Are There?
There are three ways to get a degree in the department of Electrical and Computer Engineering: BSEE, Electrical Engineering Option Diploma says BSEE, degree is accredited BSEE, Computer Engineering Option BSCpE Diploma says BSCpE, degree is not accredited (YET!) Sign conventions will help. Try them!

3 What Degree Plans Are There?

4 What do the Different Degrees Mean?
One view of this is in terms of the degree of computer/software emphasis BSEE, Electrical Engineering Option 5 Computing Courses BSEE, Computer Engineering Option 9 Computing Courses BSCpE 13.5 Computing courses BS Computer Science 15 Computing Courses Sign conventions will help. Try them!

5 What if I Want Both? Some have asked whether it is a good idea to get more than one major. Double major? Can’t at UH Two undergraduate majors? Not a good use of your time and money Minor in Computer Science? Better use of your time and money Master’s Degree Best use of your time and money Sign conventions will help. Try them!

6 What Degree Plan Can I Follow?
You may follow the degree plan That was in effect when you were admitted to the program (changed your major) as long as you don’t take a year off Adopted any time after your were admitted to the program That agrees with your major – simply fill out a General Petition Form Sign conventions will help. Try them!

7 Some Common Questions Which major is the best major?
In my opinion, there is no single answer for everyone. I am convinced that the best major for you is the major that you will do well in.

8 Some Common Questions Which major will I do best in?
My premise is that all majors are difficult, to greater or lesser extents. If so, you need to work hard to do well in any major. So, the major that you will do best in, is the one where you are willing to work hard.

9 Some Common Questions Which major will I work hard?
I believe that it is difficult to work hard, and long, at something that you do not enjoy. So, the key is to find something that you enjoy, that you find interesting. It should be something that gets you excited, enthralled, enthusiastic, enraptured, overwhelmed…
