1 Inventions on Transportation 1800- 1899
By: Najee Bishop Period 3 Date: December 1, 2009

2 About Transportation has been a major factor throughout history. Everyone needed to get around to transport themselves and good. These inventions mentioned are around , which in during this period made the lives of people much easier to do complete certain tasks.

3 “ all Aboard!!!” The steam- powered locomotive was an invention created to transport goods and people throughout the country. The United States started developing steam locomotives in The Baltimore and Ohio Railroads Tom Thumb was the first locomotive to run in America.

4 “ I want to invent something big!”
The inventor of the steam- powered locomotive was Richard Trevithick. Trevithick invented this massive machine in 1804 on February 21, within the Untied Kingdom.

6 “Going up!” The elevator is a transport vehicle that runs vertically, which moves people and goods to different floors of a building. There were many types of elevators in the middle 1800’s such as crude elevators, “ standing rope control” elevator and the safety elevators.

An aircraft is a vehicle that is able to fly by support in the air. This vehicle was able to transport goods of over land and sea. During the 1800’s most of the aircrafts were prototypes and were unsuccessful.

I believe I can fly Henri Gifford was the inventor of the Non- rigid airship or aircraft. His invention was steam- powered but was able to lift with a hydrogen envelope. He was a French engineer

The Creator An American man by the name of George Pullman invented the Pullman sleeping car. He was an inventor and industrialist. Born on March 3rd , and died in October 19, 1897.

15 Round and round A bicycle is a human- powered vehicle with two wheels attached to it’s frame, one wheel in front of the other. Bicycles were introduced in the 19th century. They were a means of transportation. They progessed from their popularity by becoming into children toys, adult fitness, military and police applications, courier services and competitive sports.

16 The inventor of the bicycle was a Frenchman named Pierre Michaux .
His son Ernest worked with him on this invention and soon invented the modern pedal and crank of the bicycle.

There are different types of motorcycles depending on their design such as: Long distance travel Navigating in city traffic Cruising Sport And racing.
