All graded items will be sent home each Friday Due on Monday Weekly Progress Report Delivered via through AERIES each Friday. Will include grades and missing work. Please make sure that your address is current in AERIES so that you will receive this! REMIND app Communication

STUDYSYNC Web-based Curriculum Focus:
Students need Internet access and a device to use at home for homework Students need earbuds/headphones DAILY Focus: Reading non-fiction and fiction with a greater depth of understanding Text annotation Vocabulary development – using context clues Using textual evidence to support written responses Writing – Lots and lots of writing! STUDYSYNC

District Reading Requirement – 600 pages per trimester for all sixth graders.
Will be assessed through the Accelerated Reader program. Information will be given to students next week. Accelerated Reader

How to be successful in Language Arts
Take careful notes in class – focus on what is being taught Complete all assignments ON TIME Read every day Be sure to meet the four AR deadlines each trimester – Do extra credit reading if you can! Ask questions Participate in whole class and small group discussions Come in before or after school if you need extra help How to be successful in Language Arts

We will study ancient civilizations from early humans to the Roman Empire.
Highlight of 6th grade social studies is Greek Day in the spring. Students will be required to read the textbook, complete workbook notes, and complete various assignments and projects. Assessments will be given throughout each chapter via quizzes and chapter tests. SOCIAL STUDIES

How to be successful in Social Studies
Listen carefully in class as we read and discuss the textbook Re-read each section at home the night before a quiz Take thorough notes in your workbook – you can use them on your quizzes! Complete all assignments ON TIME Make time to study for chapter tests – be sure you complete and USE your flashcards to study Ask questions Do a careful job on projects – they are worth a lot of points!
