Bellwork Monday, August 28, 2017
Use the index card in your folder to answer the following prompt: What was the most exciting thing you did this summer? (Relaxing, Family Trip, Friends?)
3
Coming to attention When I need to address the class, I will raise my hand and say, “I need your help.” When you hear the signal, stop speaking and/or working, and make eye contact with me.
4
Checking your SLANT Sit up Look the speaker in the eye Ask and answer questions Nod your head Track the speaker (I might also say “tracking Bill,” which means you must look at Bill, or whoever is speaking).
5
Math Class Rules Be on time and prepared. Do not speak unless your hand is raised and you are called on. Stay seated unless given permission. Be respectful to your peers, adults, and yourself. No cellphones, technology, backpacks.
6
Entering math class Greet me at the door with eye contact, a handshake, and a “good morning” or “good afternoon.” Do NOT speak to anyone, including yourself, once you cross the threshold into the classroom. For 1st block, students who are there early will work on Compass Learning. IMMEDIATELY get your folder from the bin on the table. Then, go straight your assigned seat. Make sure you have your folder, pencil, and notebook. Keep only these materials on your desk. If you need any other materials, use the correct hand signal and I will bring it to you. Begin your Bellwork.
7
Leaving math class When I call your row, go place you Classwork folder in the bin for your block. Throw away any trash. Go back to your seat. Gather all of your materials from under your desk and prepare to leave with all of your items (including your homework folder). Stay seated until you are given permission to leave the class.
8
Cellphones Verbal Warning
Teacher will take the phone and give it back at the end of the class. If student refuses to give the phone, call for CSA, Ms. Woods, or Mr. Marshall If this keeps repeating, teacher will take the phone and the student will not be given their phone back for the rest of the day.
9
Hand Signals
10
PENCILS You will need a pencil EVERYDAY in this classroom! If you need to sharpen your pencil- raise it in the air - (classroom signals) If you lose your pencil, put the hand signal in the air for a pencil and I will bring you one. Place it in your folder at the end of class—the pencil is not to leave the class.
11
GARBAGE The only time you will be allowed to throw out garbage is at the end of the block- unless given permission However, if you really need to throw something away, use the hand signal and wait for permission. If we are working on an activity I may have garbage collector come around with the trashcan.e garbage.
12
Using the Restroom Put your signal in the air and wait for permission to use the restroom. You must sign out every time on the desktop computer. If you use the restroom more than twice in one week or are gone more than a 4 minutes, I will be suspicious, speak with you after class, and take further action if needed. Take the appropriate pass from its designated location and replace it when you return. Students may not use the restroom during the first and last 15 minutes of class. Go to the bathroom as soon as you get to school so that you do not have to ask to use the restroom during 1st block.
13
Place the hand signal in the air for asking a question.
Visiting the Nurse Place the hand signal in the air for asking a question. Receive a nurse’s pass from the teacher. Go directly to the nurse’s office. Return the nurse’s pass when coming back from the nurse.
