1 3E’S EXPERIENCE WITH ETHICS AND ETIQUETTE

2 Dilemma Grocery Store You're buying groceries and the total is $20, but after store discounts and coupons your total is now $8. You hand the cashier a $10 bill, and she gives you $12 in change, having thought that you gave her a $20. Do you tell her, or do you pocket the $12?

3 Dilemma cont. Car Accident
Driving to work you receive a text, anxiously you read it and run into someone, which causes a multi car accident. You get out of your car -- unhurt -- and see that the person you hit is dead. Then, someone comes up to you frantically and says that she hit someone; in the chaos of the crash, she has convinced herself that she hit the person you hit. Do you let her take the fall for you?

It would be unethical if you did.

ADAPT TO SITUATIONS DON’T LOOSE YOUR INTEGRITY

10 Misconduct or Just Plain Rudeness

11 GOOD MANNERS It’s practicing Proper Etiquette
There is no FORMULA for your actions

12 Courtesy It’s simply showing RESPECT to others and yourself
One would need to make people feel comfortable by the way you behave and how they perceive you

13 There is no easy way to tell what the right thing to do is
The right thing is what a virtuous person would do One who possess INTEGRITY

Look at a business and those that are in authority, they have the power to help or harm people. If the manager of a store paid his cleaning employee less than the going rate to clean his store, knowing exactly what the going rate is, The Result: The employee could suffer serious financial implications or leave and find another position where he/she does not feel exploited.

17 It is likely that the decision is an ethical one
It is likely that the decision is an ethical one. If you answer “YES” to all. Is my decision a truthful one? Is my decision fair to everyone affected? Will it build goodwill for the organization? Is the decision beneficial to all parties who have a vested interest in the outcome?

18 Perception Think of others and how they perceive you Etiquette is helping an elderly lady cross the street, not attacking her in the middle of the road and stealing her purse.
