In math we wrapped up the first major math standard of the year: Operations and Algebraic Thinking. We are now moving on to place value concepts.
We are starting another author study next week! Make sure to ask your child on Tuesday who it is! 
We will be having a prayer test on the Our Father during the week of 1/16. Our Father, Who art in heaven, Hallowed be Thy Name; Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Amen.
We have been busy doing many experiments based on solids, liquids and gases. The students have learned a lot about matter through these activities: sorting of solids by their properties, moving liquids to make new shapes, dancing raisins and creating a gas (vinegar and baking soda) to blow up a balloon. We even made Snowflake the Snowman to see how heat changes matter! The students learned to observe, discuss and record about the experiments.
