White water Rafting 2 days of rafting Rock Climbing 3rd day June th + travel to & from Cost $250 + transportation transport estimate is $50/person Rocky Mountain High Adventure Base (Packard) Boy Scouts base in Colorado Tent Camping & Meals at the Base Thu evening Fri 11th Sat 12th Sun 13th Mon 14th Tue 15th White Water Climb

2 High Adventure 2010 Arkansas River, Browns Canyon
This is a popular rafting river served by several outfitters 2 days activity Participants will paddle and get wet! Includes a River Guide per raft who give instructions, training and drive Class II, III & IV (unlike the Brazos) Rock Climbing & Rappelling Real rocks (Rocky Mountain Granite) Safety first It’s a BSA activity Colorado State-certified River staff Our crew has 2 lifeguards Also, Packard HA Base also offers a more challenging river (Royal Gorge, Class IV & V but that’s not for us as it requires experienced 16+ yrs rafters)

3 Preparations Mandatory Recommended Gear is provided by Scout Base
BSA Swim test (April or May) Colorado-specific’s Health form Proof of insurance Recommended Tent Camping once River Activity Unlike Philmont, there is no BMI / weight restrictions Gear is provided by Scout Base except water shoes BSA Swim Test Jump feet first into water over the head, level off, and begin swimming. Swim 75 yards in a strong manner using one or more of the following strokes: side, breast, trudgen, or crawl. Swim 25 yards using an easy, resting backstroke. The 100 yards must be completed without stops and must include at least one sharp turn. Rest by floating…Long enough to demonstrate ability to rest when exhausted. Prior rafting experience is not required! This activity is accessible to all our Crew!

Boy Scouts’ Rocky Mountain / Packard High Adventure Base Salida, Colorado Distance 780 miles from Allen 220miles north of Philmont Transportation Schedule Just before Philmont trek to save time, gas, $ and also adults’ vacations days We’ll need to work out details & coordinate, identify drivers / other means of transport We probably need to plan a stopover on way-in & back Start returning Monday evening and/or Tue AM Salida, Co Philmont, NM Allen, Tx
