Course Objectives Know the key terms and definitions used to describe USAF Air and Space Power Comprehend the events, leaders, and technical developments which surrounded the evolution of USAF Air and Space Power Demonstrate basic verbal and written communication skills Comprehend the Air Force core values and examples of their use throughout the evolution of USAF Air and Space Power

Semester Requirements
Minimum of 12 credit hours (full time) Minimum 2.5 GPA 80% attendance required at LLAB, PT and your AS class Physical Fitness Assessment (PFA) scheduled for late Oct Term Counseling Requirement Meet with me to discuss AFROTC requirements, expectations, academics, schedule, or anything you want to talk about Individual Appointments – select an open slot! Academic Plan – Form 48 – START NOW! Returning cadets: First, get your form 48 from me! Then take it to advisor after edits. Save a copy on your computer for future use!

Rules of Engagement Be prepared for class – complete reading prior to class Cell phones must be turned off/put away Laptops might be used during lecture to follow slides – police yourself Military customs and courtesies at all times Class called to attention at beginning/end of class Address each other as “Cadet _____” Special students address as “Mr.___” or “Ms.____” Drinks and snacks (follow school policy – see the AS200 syllabus) Uniform must be worn for your AS class AND all day on the day you have LLAB If you are absent for LLAB/PT, submit memo to your Flight/CC If you are fatigued – stand up

Expectations If you’re going to be late, call or e-mail me
If late and didn’t notify me, see me after class If you will be absent for class, submit a memo to me Acknowledge receipt from or phone calls from Cadre, POC, and/or Ms. Smith Respond with “Yes, Sir/Ma’am”, “Sir/Ma’am. Understood” When in Detachment hallway – don’t loiter or gaggle Do not acknowledge us in office while passing by Reporting in procedures Lounge/Col attention If you have an appointment/we are busy, use the whiteboards stating that you are in the Cadet Lounge/let us know you’re here Keep me updated of all changes (address, phone, , school, medical, etc.)

Academic Freedom Policy
IAW Articles 88 and 89 of the UCMJ: Commissioned officers, officer trainees, and cadets may not use contemptuous words toward the President, Vice President, Congress, the Secretary of Defense, Secretary of the Air Force, and others. In addition, military members may not make disrespectful remarks about superior commissioned officers.

Key Points Be responsible – you ALWAYS represent the Det and the USAF
Be professional – when in doubt, always be MORE professional (e.g., s, phone, and/or in person) Be a mentor – help those around you Be aware – assaults on campus/making yourself vulnerable Report ANY civil involvements to me within 72 hours Lead a balanced life (Take care of yourself) Don’t procrastinate – homework, DoDMERB, etc. Grades are #1 priority No sexual harassment/sexual assault/DUIs Don’t be tempted to do the minimum…
