Europe-wide one-week awareness raising campaign since 2002 on alternatives to vehicle use, but also an opportunity to experiment and launch infrastucture and other permanent measures as well as host car-free day 2017: Clean, shared and intelligent mobility Car-Free Day (22 September) 2016 Record! 2,427 towns and cities 51 countries Two awards presented on 20 March EUROPEANMOBILITYWEEK Award 2016 Finalists: Lisbon, Malmö, Skopje 5th SUMP Award Finalists: Brussels, Budapest, Stockholm European Commission, DG MOVE Urban transport accounts for 70 percent of pollutants (mainly PM2.5, PM10, NOx and NO2) and 40 percent of greenhouse gas emissions (CO2) in the EU’s cities today

CLEAN AIR CAMPAIGN IDEAS 2014 EMW Best Practice Guide - Hudiksvall: Bicycle policy – invitation for suggestions for new bicycle paths and an extended cycling network. - Walk and bike to school – a competition and a challenge for school children - “In town without my car” – vehicle-free street in the center for one day, except for bicycles. - Bicycle friendly workplace – an award to workplaces that make it easier for employees to choose the bike as a means of transport. - Bike theme in your storefronts – a contest for merchants on having the bike friendliest shop window - “Winter cyclist” – a campaign aiming at increasing the number of cyclists that take the bike to and from work during the winter. Examples of shared mobility (shared freight) Trucks not fully loaded on their return journeys can be operated at full capacity through shared freight platforms (thereby reducing the number of 'empty runs‘) In Prague, waste collections were reduced by up to 92% in this way by VERB Group s.r.o.
