“In a real sense, all life is inter-related
“In a real sense, all life is inter-related. All men are caught in an inescapable network of mutuality, tied in a single garment of destiny. Whatever affects one directly, affects all indirectly. I can never be what I ought to be until you are what you ought to be, and you can never be what you ought to be until I am what I ought to be. This is the inter-related structure of reality Dr. King “Ubuntu [...] speaks of the very essence of being human[...] A person with ubuntu is open and available to others, affirming of others, They do not feel threatened that others are able and good, for he or she has a proper self-assurance that comes from knowing that he or she belongs to a greater whole and is only diminished when others are humiliated or diminished, when others are tortured or oppressed, or treated as if they were less than who they are.”

Remember, the first and great command from Deuteronomy 6:5 is
Our blue light shines with prayers for healing for all who struggle with AIDS. Our light amid barbed wire shines with prayers for healing and freedom for all with chronic illness, severe pain, and under oppression, and for all who suffer from spread of violence. We always light a candle in prayer for Shalom, the fullness of peace and well-being. The opening - Remember, the first and great command from Deuteronomy 6:5 is You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your might. We better understand what this means as we affirm God is love and those who dwell in love dwell in God. So we affirm this great word of command with the second like onto it - You shall love your neighbor as you love yourself. We have no weightier words of devotion or instruction to guide us in the living of our lives, the quiet of our own inner reflection, and the public engagement of the challenges, frustrations, terrors and brokenness of our world. Follow me, he said, and this sums up our command. TODAY WE ALL ARE CALLED TO BE DISCIPLES Hymn 434

The continued invitation - COME AS A CHILD
Come as a little child, come with a smile of eagerness. Greet each new day as a special gift of love. Even if you’re old and grey, though you’ve come a long hard way, come ready to sing and play and dance. Ready to risk and take a chance Chorus - For of such is the kingdom, for of such is the kingdom. Come as a child. Come with an open mind, come thru each door with humbleness. Treat each new thought as a spark of holy light. Even if you’re satisfied, proud and wise and dignified, come ready to open up your eyes, ready to learn and be surprised. Chorus Come with a trusting heart, come face the world with innocence. Meet everyone as a friend to know and love. Even if you’re sick and tired, disillusioned, uninspired, come ready to follow and explore, ready to lift your wings and soar. Chorus

A Prayer from Jesus by way of the Open Door Community
Our Beloved Friend Outside the Domination System May your Holy Name be honored by the way we live our lives. Your Beloved Community come. Guide us to: Walk your walk Talk your talk Sit your Silence Inside the court room, on the streets, in the jail houses, amid the hungry, With those on the margins in need of more resistance. Give us this day just that which we need. Forgive us our wrongs as we forgive those who have wronged us. Do not bring us to hard testing, but keep us safe from submission to evil. For Thine is: the Beloved Community, the power and the glory, forever and ever. Amen. A Morning Offering with Music for Reflection, “Bring Peace to Our World”, music by John D. Horman, words from a Japanese prayer

that Your servants, Lord, in freedom may Your mercy know and live.
An Invitation to the Table of Our Lord, with prayers of thanks, remembrance, and hope . . . Communion as we sing LORD, WHOSE LOVE THROUGH HUMBLE SERVICE To the Tune of Beach Spring, Hymn 422 Lord, whose love through humble service bore the weight of human need, who upon the cross, forsaken, offered mercy’s perfect deed; we, Your servants, bring the worship not of voice alone, but heart, consecrating to Your purpose every gift that You impart. Still Your children wander homeless; still the hungry cry for bread; still the captives long for freedom; still in grief we mourn our dead. As, O Lord, Your deep compassion healed the sick and freed the soul, use the love Your Spirit kindles still to save and make us whole. As we worship, grant us vision, till Your love’s revealing light, in its height and depth and greatness, dawns upon our quickened sight, making known the needs and burdens Your compassion bids us bear, stirring us to tireless striving Your abundant life to share. Called from worship to Your service, forth in Your dear name we go, to the child, the youth, the aged, love in living deeds to show; hope and health, good will and comfort, counsel, aid, and peace we give, that Your servants, Lord, in freedom may Your mercy know and live.

We go forth with prayer, DONA NOBIS PACEM Go in God’s peace.
Prayerfully our celebrations, concerns, opportunities and reflections . . . We go forth with prayer, DONA NOBIS PACEM Go in God’s peace. ______________________________________________________________________ Please join us immediately following worship for fellowship in our downstairs social hall, if you can stay. Thank you for your participation in today’s worship. Our Dialogue at 11 is an opportunity for the important work all communities of faith like our own must engage, that of envisioning our future. Please, if you are able, join us to help shape such a vision and name something of the actions we now can live to foster the realization of our vision for faithfulness to the divine command of life spent in love. Children gather as well at 11 for faith explorations involving children from both of our church communities, Capitol Heights and the Ten-Thirty Community. Debra and Sonya provide leadership for this gathering of the children
