Requirement Assemble and test two complete target systems in time for August shutdown How do we do this? What do we need to do this? Who needs to be involved?

How do we assemble the targets?
Assemble and test a system for one week then move into ISIS Then assemble second system for running in R78 Will know that the new and untested design works ISIS target will have approx. 500k pulses “on the clock”

How do we assemble the targets?
Assemble two targets in tandem Test one for a limited number of pulses (a few hundred) then install into ISIS Install other in R78 and begin continuous operation

What do we need? Two distinct phases:
Stator Main Body assembly in clean room Stator body with the new end plates welded. RAL Optics block (calibrated) with laser safety covers. Sheffield Coated bearings, upper and lower. RAL Shaft, vane and magnets RAL Final assembly in R78: Power, Water, Fibre Optics Sheffield Chiller - Second chiller? RAL Bellows RAL DAQ PC Sheffield Control PC Daresbury

What do we need? Power Electronics in R78 and VacRack area need upgrading by Daresbury Control software for power electronics needs upgrading in R78 and MLCR All connections to target assembly to be clearly labelled and documented Relevant health and safety documentation to be supplied by Sheffield Appropriate people involved need to be aware of the schedule and timescale

Timescales ISIS shutdown 13th August
Start initial assembly 12th August – 2 days Also simultaneously set up electronics in R78 Final assembly in R78 – 1 day Expect to have first full system ready for test run 14th -15th August Implies an ISIS installation date late August
