10
Experimental Method
11
3 participants in a grocery store
12
2 were shopping for their families and 1 was shopping for themselves.
2 shopping for family, 1 shopping for themself
13
Our main tasks were collaborative shopping lists and recipe searching- things that are often associated with families BUT we also wanted to cater to individuals But why…
14
Efficiency in completing tasks
We measured # of mistakes # of questions Efficiency in completing tasks 2 shopping for family, 1 shopping for themself
15
Experimental Results
16
? ? #1 Unclear what was scrollable
17
? ? “I feel like I have to click everything.”
“I didn’t know I could click more than one…”
18
? ? #2 Share feature seems like too much work…
19
? ? “…if I'm at the grocery store, I'll text her and ask her what she needs….” “…you don’t really think about what you need from the grocery store until someone asks you….”
20
? ? #3 Share feature is confusing
21
? ? “How do I share my list with people who aren’t there??”
22
? ? #4 People don’t know how to add recipe ingredients to the list
23
? ? “…Wait what? What do the checks mean? Can I uncheck them?….”
“…How do I put them into my list? There isn’t an add button….”
24
? ? #5 Not everyone has a smart phone
25
? ? “my wife doesn't have a smart phone…”
26
Suggested UI Changes
27
! ! #1 Add a key word search, or categories for recipe results
“Recipes need to be alphabetical and need some sort of order – they need sort options”
28
! ! #2 Make scrolling more apparent on the filters page
29
! ! #3 Have a recently added section in shopping list
“I want to easily see what other people recently added…”
30
! ! #4 If a contributor is adding an item to the list, make that item get approval first. “I don’t want my kids to add a bunch of junk to my shopping list…”
31
! ! #5 Ability to skip the filter - or add the ability to select more than one option. “I want to be able to look up Thai food and Mexican food during the same search.”
32
! ! #6 A way for users to add to a list
If they have don’t have a smart phone “I should to be able to select from my contacts or something…”
33
Summary of Talk
