1 SEARCA GRADUATE SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM

2 About SEARCA promote, undertake, and coordinate research programs related to the needs and problems of the Southeast Asian region; provide high quality graduate study in agriculture; disseminate the findings of agricultural research and experimentation.

9 GRADUATE SCHOLARSHIPS
1. FULL GRADUATE DEGREE SCHOLARSHIP Open to nationals of SEAMEO member countries to pursue Masters or PhD degree on a full-time basis in identified study posts. GRADUATE SCHOLARSHIPS for Southeast Asians 2. PHD RESEARCH SCHOLARSHIP Supports the dissertation of qualified Southeast Asian PhD students whose research fall within SEARCA’s priority thrusts.

10 Full Degree Scholarship
Open to regular employees of academic or research institutions or government agencies. Must not be more than 35 (for MS) or 40 (for PhD) years of age at the time of application. Areas of specialization include but are not limited to: Agricultural/Biological sciences Social Sciences Economics and Agribusiness Forestry and Fisheries Environmental Sciences Agro-industrial Technology and Engineering Priority research topics must fall within SEARCA’s thrusts on social inclusion, environmental sustainability, and cross- cutting concerns.

13 Application Process Application requirements submitted to the Ministry of Education Ministry screens and endorse applications to SEARCA SEARCA and Ministry conducts interview of applicants SEARCA evaluates interview results SEARCA sends University application documents to target study posts SEARCA received admission notice of scholarship applicants SEARCA sends award letters to successful candidates Generally, SEARCA does not give scholarship directly to the individual applicant but requires endorsement letter from the Ministry of Education/Higher Education in their respective countries. This shortens the screening process as they have already selected the most credible candidates with academic merit and leadership potential. This also ensures that the funds intended for the scholarship programs are efficiently utilized. Then, applications will be again screened by the Graduate Education and Institutional Development Department (GEIDD), SEARCA.

14 PhD Research Scholarship
PRIORITY 1 Southeast Asian nationals enrolled in PhD programs in any of the member universities under the Southeast Asian University Consortium for Graduate Education in Agriculture and Natural Resources (UC). PRIORITY 2 Southeast Asian nationals who are regular staff members of government agencies or non-profit development-oriented institutions, and are PhD students of agricultural universities outside of UC.

Research funds not to exceed USD 4,500 Optional internship at SEARCA for up to two (2) months (including travel expenses to and from SEARCA, travel and accident insurance, and stipend during the period of internship) PHD Research SCHOLARSHIP Benefits

17 NON-DEGREE AND OTHER SCHOLARSHIP
ACADEMIC BRIDGING undertake undergraduate technical courses to enhance knowledge in areas of specialization. Also has provisions for specialized training courses to improve the scholars’ English language proficiency and other technical skills. NON-DEGREE AND OTHER SCHOLARSHIP Schemes SANDWICH PROGRAM provides limited support to highly qualified Southeast Asian graduate students to conduct or complete their researches under a sandwich program arrangement outside their home university under the supervision of a counterpart adviser
