3. William Shakespeare- Bard of Avon
Shakespeare is a famous actor, and play dramatist from early England
He is the National Poet of England
Created 37 plays, and collaborated with other writers
Established the Globe Theater

4. Shakespeare’s Early Life
Shakespeare is speculated to be born on April 23, in Stratford-upon-Avon
Shakespeare was one of 8 siblings
No records show his education, but it is believed he went to a local school for grammar, reading and classics
His parents John and Mary were successful people, but around 1570 John’s wealth declined

5. Anne Hathaway- Shakespeare’s summer day
Anne was born in 1556, and was 8 years older than William
Anne was also one of 8 children like William
Her father passed away in 1581, but Anne continued to live with her family in their farmhouse
The farmhouse is now a popular visitor attraction known as “Anne Hathaway’s Cottage”

6. Shakespeare’s married life
Anne Hathaway and Shakespeare married on November 28, 1582
Shakespeare was 18 when he married Anne
They first had a daughter named Susanna, who was born on May
The couple also had twins, Hamnet and Judith who were born on February 2, 1585
Hamnet passed away from an unknown illness at the age of 11

7. The Lost Years of Shakespeare's
After Shakespeare and Anne have the twins, there is a period of 7 years where almost nothing is documented on Shakespeare
Many speculations exist but nothing is actually known

8. Building The Globe Theatre/Shakespeare's Globe
The Globe Theatre was built in by Shakespeare’s play company
It was built to give Shakespeare and his company a place to perform on time
Built next to the the river Thames in the district of Southwark
Circular and 3 stories high, with stage in the center
Looked like a small modern day football stadium

9. The Globe catches fire
June 29, 1613, the Globe Theater caught fire during the play of Henry VIII
A cannon was fired during the play burning the entire theater to the ground

10. What happened to the Theater
1614 a year after being burnt down, the Theater was rebuilt
It was relocated to the opposite side of the Thames River
The Theater also did not have a straw roof this time
1642 Theaters were banned in England for showing “Evil” to the public
1644 after Hamlet is played at the Globe Theater, it is closed from the public

11. The New Theater The original playhouse no longer exist
In 1966 a replica was built near the original location, but was enlarged and made to safety standards
Plays are still performed in this replica theater for the public
